This book is amazing! I did not want to read another book on leadership since they seem to say the same thing in a different package. Not this one! The insight given regarding our brain wiring and how to harness that for good in leadership (and really in all relationships) was truly life-changing.As I was reading this book at night, my excitement about what I was learning must have shown. My wife actually asked me, "What's going on over there...you normally don't get so excited when you read?" I told her this book is amazing and is changing the way I see life, myself, relationships, and it helped make sense of many things I've experienced but had not been able to understand until now.So far I have given away 7 copies and told several other people they should buy it. I don't think I've ever done that with another book...ever.

I'm already inspired within the 1st chapter. My mind is stimulated and my heart is encouraged.I am sharing this with a small group of guys and we plan on reading this together.I'm also planning on integrating the ideas in this book for a parenting seminar my wife and I will be teaching at YNCC on May 15. Because parenting is largely leadership. Just what kind of leadership.

Rare Leadership gives the reader four very doable habits to learn in order to mature emotionally and relationally. Remain Relational is the first task, meaning in the middle of negative emotions learn to keep from withdrawing inward and becoming sullen. Not easy for those of us who are in the habit of regrouping in an introverted way, but the authors give very practical coaching on how to get real and leap forward in this aspect of becoming more dependable as a member of a team. I'm reading it in spurts because I want to apply what I'm learning before moving ahead. But I've already given away a few copies. Well-written. No filler.

I really enjoyed this book and found so much value in what they are teaching. It is full of personal, emotional and precise stories that help me to understand the skills they are trying to impart. These skills cannot be fully learned through a book but require a face-to-face interaction with people. I have been to part I of the Thrive training and it is excellent. Like nothing I have ever experienced before, completely transformative for my family and my work life. Definitely read this book as a way to get started in your own journey of emotional maturity. It is crucial to every area of our lives.The only thing I might change about the book is that it could be even longer and offer more stories and content. As it is, it is excellent, clearly written for leaders who want to get the nuggets as quickly and clearly as possible.

I have read several leadership books over the past several months for graduate work and this book tops them all. It is a refreshing look at what it takes to lead and develop as a true leader. The authors do a great job sharing from their research, personal experiences, insights from the Bible and insights from recent works on leadership. Every leader needs to read this book to grow and lead as a healthy leader. I feel motivated to grow as a leader.

The author's approach to leadership was fresh and insightful. Very worthy read. Likely a book that needs to be kept in a person's permanent collection for further study and reviewing of principals.I would even recommend this book for people who don't think of themselves as leaders. Plenty of takeaways for all.

This was a great book. Not so much the analytical part as the basic thoughts that were shared about leadership. I needed to read this book for me. I am leading everyday of my life and wanted to stop the frustration factor of leadership vs management. I read this book and studied Philippians out of the bible at the same time. These two together spoke deeply to my heart and has brought an adjustment in my life.

Many books teach biblical leadership principles and introduce a framework for improvement. Some leadership books address the science of how the human brain works and how it effects leaders. Rare Leadership stands alone in that it brings both of these together in light of biblical principles to provide both the context that explains how emotional intelligence works and practical frameworks for becoming an emotionally mature leader.

Very interesting book coming at the area of leadership from an unusual but fascinating angle. I would highly recommend it.
