Careful handling of ferrite parts!!
These are great! Like ceramic, they will crack easily, so handle carefully- don't drop or put too much pressure. So You can VERY EASILY hand wind with insulated wire on flat end- single inductor or double wires coils like transformer. Insulated magnet wire is slightly better than hook up wire , since it is closer to core for induction. I use 4:40 brass threaded rod with 4:40 nuts and washers to hold together, and non magnetic. Strong black duct tape or plastic zip ties can also be used. Ferrite used over 400cycles and best around 10-25Khz frequency. Transformer build formula should be used to prevent saturation shorting of circuit. N turns = E X 10 '8 divided by 4 X F htz X 2000 Bsat X Area core sq cm. Then go over 8 decimal places on calculator. If 1/2 core cracks later, you will have extras to keep going. UU core sets were used in the old style tv's for high voltage flyback transformer so now they are surplus on market. I like these better than the EE core sets with bobbin. The larger thickness of core, the lesss turns required by formula, as it is in the denominator of division. Use formula units in gauss in denominator. PC40 ferrite material is 500mt sat flux density.( See conversion table) Work formula backwards also for the density to see if change of turns still fits with scientific calculator value as less than the Gauss value, so as circuit does not short out. A = B / C X D X E D = B / C X A X E
