IIRC, two were included. I purchased when Makita ran a free extra battery deal so I got three....

Where is this set made?

I have no idea, probably China like every other damned thing..... I'd check for you but the tools are on the jobsite. But so far it has shown typical Makita durability in daily construction use. No complaints.

I have the original kit that came with two batteries. I immediately purchased two more. On big projects, anything less than four batteries means you'll be waiting for a recharge at some point.
