“This book was seminal in my life. I wouldn’t be living the life I’m living if it didn’t find me.”—Matthew McConaughey Ten ancient scrolls reveal priceless wisdom for changing your life in this evergreen classic with more than five million copies in print. A timeless fable with profoundly modern lessons, The Greatest Salesman in the World is both a road map to salesmanship and a heartfelt tale that redefines the meaning of success. As a young camel boy in Jerusalem, Hafid dreams of becoming more. Witnessing the great empires of tradesmanship that others have grown, he desires to do the same—to become not only a salesman, but the greatest salesman in the world. Desperate to prove himself, he approaches the best merchant he knows, who sets him an impossible task—a task that takes him on an unforgettable journey involving a red cloak, a barn in Bethlehem, and ten scrolls that will change his life. Each scroll touches upon perennially valuable lessons: persisting against the odds, mastering emotions, embracing joy, and creating good habits. Through the story of Hafid and his ten scrolls, The Greatest Salesman in the World guides readers through a philosophy for getting the most out of life—starting right now. Review: Small book but immense in substance! - This is a small book with lots of amazingly powerful principles, written in a summerized manner, direct style that makes it easy for people to grasp. Review: Enjoyable, Easy Read, Motivational - The first book I have read by Og Mandino, THE GREATEST SALESMAN IN THE WORLD, is a delightful little book on self-improvement. It is a classic, and many self-help authors will borrow the wisdom, principles, and themes in the book. The story begins with Hafid, who overseas the largest multinational trade empire in the civilized world. He possesses scrolls that contain principles that he applied in his life to become the "greatest salesman in the world." The story is uplifting, interesting and moving and briefly shows Hafid's rise from a camel boy to the "greatest salesman in the world." The idea is that we, as Hafid, can become the "greatest salesman in the world" if we diligently, consistently, and rigorously apply the principles contained in the scrolls. You want to remind yourself of these principles, apply them until they become habits. The principle of persistence: "I was not delivered in this world in defeat, nor does failure course in my veins. I am not a sheep waiting to be prodded by my shephard. I am a lion and refuse to talk, to walk, to sleep with the sheep. I will hear not those who weep and complain, for their disease is contagious. Let them join the sheep. The slaughterhouse of failure is not my destiny." Moreover, "nor will I allow yesterday's success to lull me into today's complacency, for this is the great foundation of failure." The idea we are "nature's greatest miracle," and I quote: "Within me burns a flame which has been passed from generations uncounted and its heat is a constant irritation to my spirit to become better than I am, and I will. I will fan this flame of dissatisfaction and proclaim my uniqueness to the world." The idea is that you are unique, and you must utilize your own uniqueness to achieve success. Copying others' uniqueness can only get you so far. You, your uniqueness as a person, is an advantage you must use. Other principles and ideas include but are not limited to controlling one's emotions, enjoying each day as if it were your last, remembering to laugh at yourself, and being a person of action. THE GREATEST SALESMAN IN THE WORLD is a small, easy-to-read book but is vast in its simple wisdom. It is definitely worthwhile reading, especially if you are in the grind of your career, educational program, small business, and so forth and need something small, easy-to-read but also inspiring.

Life changing
You will find that the size of the book means nothing after you read this one. In such a small book and a short read, I feel like I can take on the world. I got this book for me and a close relative to read together long distance over the phone when we cannot be together. The works of affirmations and the words of encouragement provided from this book brought us so much closer together, while motivating us and giving us a greater sense of perspective on life in the process. The small size makes it easy to carry on the go, easy to store in a purse, sling bag, or even cargo shorts. While the cover may say the greatest salesman in the world, it inspires anyone to become the greatest version of them self. It encourages connection, understanding, and thought about the world. Utilizing various analogies and stories, a myriad of lessons can be learned from the small book. It touches on gratitude, having faith, and perseverance, in addition to so many more important topics that should be talked about in society. This is a book everyone should read, to give everyone some much-needed perspective and mindfulness in their life right now. The lessons to be learned in this book are well worth the price, and I cannot wait to read the sequel. The scrolls provided in this book appeal to those who are both religious and not religious, and does not push it’s views on anyone. The book simply hopes to invoke a sense of control in your life. No matter who you are or where you are, happy or sad, this book is vital to changing your mindset for the better. I strongly encourage you to buy multiple copies of this book- more copies, cheaper rate per book- and because you will want to give this to a friend. I continue to buy this book for my friends, family, and strangers as gifts and just as a guide to those who hold great potential. I put copies on benches, tables, and seats in hopes that people will find this book and grow from it just as i have.

Starts great ends, drags, strong lessons
Over hyped book! Starts off with a great story for few chapters. The lessons at the end are GREAT AND USEFUL but the entire book is drawn out. I GIVE IT 4 but would actually do 3.5 if I could

A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE
The story and its scrolls hit harder than I expected. They aren’t just for people in sales; they’re a blueprint for how to move through life. Every day you’re persuading someone, whether it’s your kids, a friend, or even yourself. We sell ideas constantly without noticing it. These scrolls make that crystal clear, and if you actually apply them, they can reshape your mindset and your results. A powerful, lasting read.

Awesome
I first read this when I was in 6th grade. My Dad gave me the book. Although I didn't read it on schedule like it says, I did make an attempt even back then and I really believe it made a big difference in how I interact with customers and people in general today. I've had a number of different employers over the years tell me that my customer service skills are excellent and seem ingrained in my psyche. Customer service is not something that everyone is good at, but the core skills of patience, listening, controlling emotion, laughing at ridiculous and rude customers (not in front of them obviously), are all traits that can be attributed back to what the scrolls teach and are traits that are common among people who have good customer service skills. Two scrolls in particular really have helped me over the years, Greet this day with love in your heart and If you persist you will succeed. Greeting people with love has helped me tremendously in dealing with crabby, unruly customers. When I say I love you, in my head, even though sometimes it is hard to do, it keeps me grounded and able to listen to the rants of the customer but not take them personally and also helps me to look at the situation from their side. My father used to buy this book by the case load (he literally bought over 20 cases) and hand them out to people telling them that if they read the book and follow the scrolls that their life will be changed forever. The repetition in reading the scrolls is key. I've read them so many times now that the principals just come naturally now and I find myself automatically responding to situations almost exactly like the scrolls say. Some people say that they don't work in the sales field and so the book isn't relevant. In my opinion, this book is relevant to everyone, regardless of your career. Practically every situation, work, family, friends, etc you are selling something. Whether it's selling an idea, convincing a friend, spouse or child to do something, negotiating, interviewing for a job, etc. This is a book on how to live your life in general, not just how to be a better salesman. You will not regret buying this book even if you just read it once. BUT if you can find the time and make it a habit to read the book as it instructs, your life will be changed forever.

多くのビジネスマンに影響を与えた本ですが、私は文学として読みました。
"Gift is what you get by giving more than you receive. In giving it away, you'll find the precious thing you seek." The lyrics from one of my favorite songs "GIFT" by BLUE sang 10 years ago. The message is what I got from the book. Giving away your most precious thing to somebody else. That is heartbreaking, but it makes you the greatest person in the world in the end. Don't know I can live a noble life like him, but I adore his beautiful faith.
