good reading
Theodore Boone does it again. It is nice to follow his adventures and his accomplishments. Grisham most certainly know how to keep the reader entertained

Compelling read!
It was hard to stop reading at night and then had to wait until the next day to pick up the story where I left off.

First book in the series for Grisham's YA books.
This was my third read of John Grisham's foray into young adult fiction. As I mentioned in a previous review, Grisham is stretching his narrative style by telling a story from the point of view of a 13 year old wannabe lawyer. Theodore Boone is a virtuous and intelligent young man in this book as well. In this tale, one of his close friends is believed to be abducted. There is a red herring that initially indicates that the girl has been murdered by an escaped convict. Where the police and others fail to find the girl, Theodore is able to locate her and goes on a road trip with his hippie uncle to bring her back. The story is somewhat suspenseful, but ultimately predictable. Theodore is the hero and brings the girl home. Again, the story is somewhat unbelievable in terms of the intellect and perspective of the 13 year old protagonist. Further, the subject of the "kidnapping" is represented as a close friend of Theodore's as they communicate every night. It is dubious that the events of this story would not have been communicated to him and that the girl leaves town without a thought of who might wonder where she is.

Where is April?
Suddenly, April is MISSING! She VANISHED, overnight! She's thirteen years old, and disfunctional does not begin to describe her family. This night, she was HOME, and she was alone!. Next moprning she was GONE! She was Theo's VERY GOOD friend. Not his 'grlfriend', in the romantic sense, but his FRIEND. And Theo was HER friend, in the same sense. This is actually the SECOND in the series of books about Theodore Boone, Kid Lawyer. It takes us on a midnight ride to a College town where a really bad rock band is playing, loudly, for a Sorority party. How'd we get there? Theo knows! He and Ike (Theo's Uncle) track her down and GO THERE to rescue her. From whom? READ THE BOOK! There is less in my review than for Kid Lawyer, but I did more explanitory stuff there. This is a real PAGE TURNER, too! The town comes to life and the characters come to life, and the story is believable! They (all four books) are for '11 - up' age group. I'm 'UP'. (78) You will NOT regret the purchase! buy them all at once. They run as a serial, although they will stand alone, and do do vary well.

Tracking Down What Happened in the Abduction
This story is definitely designed for adolescents and is a very good story for that age bracket. For adults it may be a little simplistic, but for adolescents John Grisham has provided a challenge with several built in challenges, as well. For instance, should he call his parents when he decides to leave town in pursuit of the victim's presumed location? That's a major dilemma for a 13 year old. Too many things could go wrong. John Grisham teaches the adolescent reader why parents make rules and how to both respect those rules even when it appears they should be bypassed and how to achieve the higher goal, in this case rescuing the person abducted. Kids have a tough time with decisions that flaunt independence rather than obedience, and Mr. Grisham shows respect for both the responsible parents and the responsible adolescent who may sometimes bend the rules but won't do things that harm anyone, including himself. Good book, great author.

I liked the first so much that I bought the second in hardback!
I was in the airport book store and selected a paperback John Grisham novel to read on the plane.(The first Theodore Boone book) After reading awhile I realized it was for young people, but I enjoyed it anyhow. As a former teacher I always liked sampling literature meant for young people. My husband also read and liked it too. So I was happy to order and read the second book in Grisham's kid lawyer series, "The Abduction." It was as good as the first. I am glad Amazon brought it to my attention. Grisham has created quite a young character. I am saving the two books for our grandsons to enjoy next year when they visit. The ten year old should be ready now. Good for all ages, say 10 to 90.

Good Easy Read
I started reading this book last night after finishing the first book yesterday. Like the first book in the series I found this an easy read and is written in a light hearted manner, but I was expecting this as the book is aimed at the younger generation. Is was nice to see that the first sentence immediately ties this book with the first in the series and from the last sentence it appears we now have an idea on what it is going to happen in the third book of the series. I must admit I do like this continuation! The first book does set the scene and starts to give us an idea on the character's and this book gives us further information on the character's. I can't wait to get to know them further in the future books! This book does have a very good story line and is full of the usual Grisham's twists and turns that do keep you hooked.I would recommend this book to anyone!

Disappointing
I enjoyed the first book and while this one is well written and unfolds at a good pace, it is somewhat mediocre.Very little happens, there is no tension, some repetition (another appearance in Animal Court similar to book one), and the dénouement an anti climax.Being used to John Grisham's lengthy mainstream novels this is also much too short. The style and narrative are probably ideal for the intended young adult audience but not so much for older, long-term fans.

Not one of his best.
I have read and enjoyed most of Grisham's books but some like "The Racketeer" are outstanding, whilst others not so. I read the first Theodore Boone book and was impressed but not enthralled, this one seems to follow the same trend. I feel that with the actual violence element really watered down that these books are mainly aimed at the children's market. I guessed the plotline fairly early on and whilst the story itself is most intrigueing and captivating, something is missing.

Easy Reading
A good second book in the series. Straightforward plot continuing on from the first book. As noted before it is more for young adults but interesting all the same.

Feeling foolish
I was looking for holiday reading and without reading the information because it was by John Grisham I bought the first one of these and enjoyed it but thought it was a bit short . It ended on a bit of a cliffhanger so I bought this one expecting it to follow on. It didn't . Then I realised they were books for older children (presumably why they are short). I did enjoy them both though and if they reduce the third one (which actually follows the first ) I will buy it.
