Enjoy Oliviaโs sensational adventure, as she is growing up to discover her true character. This is an outgoing ox whose journey celebrates the new year. The fun-loving calf Olivia befriends the girl Mei, and the two become inseparable soul sisters. But pulling her weight on the farm is no easy task for the young ox. Suddenly, when her buddy and village are in trouble, can Olivia show her best qualities? This calf of golden character will appeal to fans of the classic childrenโs tale Ferdinand. Olivia embodies the best traits of people born in The Year of the Ox! Illustrating expressive characters and vibrant action, artist Jeremiah Alcorn creates an inviting new world for readers to explore. Tales from the Chinese Zodiac is a popular annual childrenโs book series showcasing the twelve charming animals that embody the Chinese New Year. Oliviaโs colorful travels to discover her true nature will delight children and adults alike. Kids love identifying with how each animal embarks on a unique quest to discover his or her own authentic self. Bright and dynamic illustrations will appeal to parents, those interested in Asian culture, and, of course, animal lovers. Teachers appreciate how Tales from the Chinese Zodiac is the only English series on each of the animals of the Chinese lunar calendar. Librarians like how it one of the longest-running children's book series featuring Asian American themes. Now readers everywhere can enjoy these entertaining and original tales. โ Olivia the Pig has got nothing on Olivia the Ox: As you're looking for an inexpensive one size fits all baby gift for all those friends of yours having kids this year, consider The Year of the Ox , written by CMP fave Oliver Chin and illustrated by Miah Alcorn, the fourth book in the wonderful Tales from the Chinese Zodiac series.โ - Cool Mom Picks Review: So cute! - We loved the story. I read it to my nieces and nephews as we explained to them Lunar New Year this year. They loved the story and the pictures. It was a fun way to teach them a bit about our culture and they loved getting to hear what zodiac they were born in. Fun story, and would make a great gift for any babies (or adults!) born in the year of the ox. We would love to buy the whole collection someday. Review: Simple stories for new readers - Great for toddler gift

Gave as gift for my niece.
Gave as a gift for my niece since I'm unmarried and don't give money for Chinese New Year. I give her a new book in the series each year that matches the zodiac for that upcoming year. Perfect as she's five years old and will grow into learning to read them. Her other grandparents can read it in Chinese since they have it in that language on the other side of the pages.
