One Frog Too Many (A Boy, a Dog, and a Frog)

No words in story, only pictures
My kids (5 of them) loved these books as kids. Now I’m giving them to grandkids, with a stuffed frog. They are wonderful pictures, and the frog is VERY expressive. I got to point out everyone’s expressions as I related what was happening. These are fantastic!!

One of my favorite books for children that can't read yet
I love love love this book! This story has no words to it but a picture says a thousand words! Very young children can understand the plot and they can help interpret what is happening with the pictures. You might want to record them doing so. My only issue I had with the book was the size BUT that was my issue as I did not clearly read the description so I disappointed myself expecting a larger book. However the size will be perfect for small hands to hold. I'm still excited for the book.

The story is told in pictures, not words.
My young granddaughter loves to 'read' these picture books!

Timeless book for young children
For teachers or parents/guardians who want to foster a love of stories in young children, while at the same time generate some unscripted language, this is a must have. Great illustrations, some terrific facial expressions, and a very, very sweet story. It's a small hardback, easy to carry in a backpack or on road trips.

No words...must use imagination to tell the story
This is a great book to tell a story a different way every time. There are no words, so your imagination can run wild. Ask your kiddos questions about what they think is happening and let them "read" you the story. Another great series by Mr. Mayer.

Great for S/L Samples
From K-12 this is a good book for eliciting language sample in narrative contexts although it's not truly spontaneous, it's still pretty good

Very Fun Book!!
I am a speech and language pathologist who works with children with language delay. Often they are unable to tell a story, let alone write one for class assignments. The Frog books are among the favorites for upper elementary children, and with assistance they can come up with very good stories. This may take some extra vocabulary training, however it is nearly always successful. Mercer Mayer's illustrations are very cute and engaging, even for younger students. It is often a game with the young ones to find where Frog has hidden himself. All of Mayer's books are highly recommended!

Six Great Gifts for Foreign Speaking Sponsored Children
Make sure you get all 6 books in this wordless book series "A Boy, a Dog and a Frog" (1967), "Frog, Where Are You?" (1969),"A Boy, a Dog, a Frog, and a Friend" (1971), "Frog on His Own" (1973), "Frog Goes to Dinner" (1974), and "One Frog Too Many" (1975). These are enjoyable books for adults and children alike. For added fun, I enlarged some of the pages to make accompanying coloring pages for my grandson. Are you sponsoring a child overseas who does not speak English? These are the perfect gift. These are wordless, and being small and flat, they are just the specifications required by many sponsorship organizations.
