101 More Hymn Stories: The Inspiring True Stories Behind 101 Favorite Hymns

Interesting information, but not what I expected. I was looking for specific information about what events or circumstances led the author to write a specific Hymn. Most were just Bio's of the author. A little disappointing.

Kenneth Osbeck has done a masterful job of bringing the "back stories" to light in each of the 101 popular hymns he has chosen to include in the book. The hymns have tremendous meaning through their melodies and lyrics, but after learning background information about the writers and the life situations that inspired them, the hymns take on added dimension in their expressions of faith, hope, and love.dczmusic

I wish there was a whole series of these books, since there are thousands of church hymns and choruses as well. So there is plenty of material to write about. I guess there were only two books and that was it.

I have shared this hymnal with my colleagues and received positive comments from all. It is most rewarding to learn what inspired the writers.to compose such wonderful hymns.

Book contains1 page story - I feel not much elaborate..1 page lyrics and keyboard notes..On the whole book is good..

This book is a must for anyone who loves the old time hymns. I found so much to highlight and I will go back to read them over and over again. As usual...great service from Amazon! Gerry
