Strontium is the chemical element with symbol Sr and atomic number 38. An alkaline earth metal, strontium is a soft silver-white yellowish metallic element that is highly reactive chemically.The metal forms a dark oxide layer when it is exposed to air. Strontium has physical and chemical properties similar to those of its two vertical neighbors in the periodic table, calcium and barium. It occurs naturally mainly in the minerals celestine, strontianite and is mined mostly from the first two of these.While natural strontium is stable, the synthetic 90Sr isotope is radioactive and is one of the most dangerous components of nuclear fallout, as strontium is absorbed by the body in a similar manner to calcium. Natural stable strontium, on the other hand, is not hazardous to health.

Worth buying if you don't mind the oxidation.
Fairly fast delivery, but the product was not packaged in oil, so it did react with the carbon dioxide, oxygen, and moisture in the air a bit, had heated up a little and it had a bit of white oxidation on it. Transferring it to oil was easy and I believe there is considerably more strontium than advertised. So that makes up for what was lost in the reactions. All in all this is a good product that is well worth the price, but be ready to transfer it to mineral oil as soon as it arrives. This is my second time buying it now and this time it came in very, very oxidized and was about half powered oxidation. Lowering my rating from 4 stars to 3 stars because the quality has dropped.

Strontium metal samples
It took a while to receive it but the amount I received was more than 100 grams and had very little oxidation on it. I was very happy with my samples and though it is mostly dendritic in structure there were several large solid pieces of strontium metal that more than made it worthwhile. Really great product. I will buy again.
