Alpaca?
The cap didn't feel like alpaca but the label says 100% alpaca although the product is listed as a "winter wool cap". It's a nice looking cap and feels o.k. However, it has a rather large label that says "Gamboa" on the front of the cap. In trying to remove the label, it left a tear on the front. It was probably my fault but the picture of the cap didn't show the label. I'll look elsewhere for a cap in the future.

Itchy
I bought this for my son as he loves Alpacas and I thought it would be a very soft hat. It did feel soft and we liked the style. However, after he wore it about 15 minutes, he said it made him itch. I thought he was probably over reacting, so I switched hats with him and wore it myself. It was quite itchy, although I was able to wear it all day. I liked the hat, but by the next day, I wanted to throw it away as my head actually slightly hurt from the micro scratches. I'm not sure what else is in there besides Alpaca, but it is scratchy. I'm going to try to wash it to see if that helps. Otherwise, I can't recommend it.

NOT soft at all. NOT Alpaca wool. Shiny synthetic fibers easily visible. ITCHY HAT!
This hat is not 100% alpaca wool. It is very easy to see the shiny synthetic fibers in the weave. It feels like a scratchy blend of synthetics and sheep's wool. I was very disappointed and returned this hat.

Comfortable and warm
Went for a 2-week camping trip in far northern Iceland and worn this cap everyday. Temps were anywhere from cool in the mid-30's, to quite cool in the low 20's and teens. Windy as well. This cap kept me warm. Best of all, the material is very plush feeling, soft and absolutely no scratchiness at all. Much more comfy than the wool and marino wool hats I have used in the past.

Very soft. . . and reversible!
Alpaca wool is regarded as more ethical and environmentally friendly than other kinds of fiber. This hat is also very soft. . . and it's reversible! They clearly intended it to be worn either way, since the inner materials tag is not sewn into a seam but can be removed easily without damaging the hat. I'm surprised it's not part of the description. The Gamboa label should be left alone, although it's unobtrusive. I bought this as a present -- I hope it will go over well!

Light weight but really warm, not too hot.
Great to stuff in a pocket of your heavy winter coat for the times when you just don't need the hood but you still want to keep your ears from getting numb. Super breathable and doesn't make your head sweat during high activity.

Alpaca is my new favorite!
I loved the scarf and hat. Alpaca is my new favorite! It's lighter and warmer than wool. The hat is perfect depth..Not too tight. Wished it came in colors but that is a minor deficiency. I would buy again!

Luxuriously soft and warm
I've been struggling to find a decent, warm and well fitting woolly hat for many weeks. Various woollen types were available. I did not want to use any plastics (acrylic), just natural material which narrowed my search. Then I discovered alpaca as a possible material. So, I went forth and ordered this hat by Gamboa. When it arrived, which was promptly, I was bowled over by how soft it felt and how itchyless it was. My lambswool scarf is positively prickly by comparison. The cap is constructed in two layers and the ends are pinched to a single spot at the top of the head which makes for a snug fit in that area. This is opposed to a more regular 4 seam affair which I find struggles to form over the head properly. The variant I purchased was grey and black. The hat can easily be used either way but, be aware, there is a Gamboa label sewn to the rim. The rim is folded up, showing an attractive contrasting coloured rim, so can also be folded down over the ears and is long enough to cover the whole ear if needed. As I have mentioned the material stretched around my medium sized head and fits very well. I'm sure it would fit a larger head, there's plenty enough elasticity in the material. It feels luxurious and looks great. The recent cold weather in the UK put it to the test and it has passed with flying colours, keeping my head and ears toasty warm.
