My deck protectors sit under 7 to 10 lbs of potting mix without a problem. The square is made from stiff plastic and could probably withstand 15 pounds of material that would be distributed across the entire surface without collapsing.

How thick is each tile?

Maybe just short of 1 inch thick

How long will this last before they get compressed ?

These are very rigid and not noticeably compressible. They have been under the full weight of our EZ GRO 2 ft X 4 ft Victory 8 garden beds for a year and have to compressed at all.
