black and white- Enjoy 4 episodes of the award winning show from the 1950s based on the novel by Kathryn Forbes. This heart warming drama depicts the lives of the Hanson family in San Francisco in the early 20th century. Delightful Peggy Wood is the loving Norwegian born matriarch of this tight knit family. Episode 1-T.R.'s Glasses- Young T.R. is not fond of the fact that he must wear eyeglasses. Mama and papa devise a way to get him to wear them. 2- Mama's Nursery School- Mama helps out a friend by taking over her nursery school for a couple of weeks. Things get a bit ugly when it's learned that the children prefer mama. 3- The Parade Grandstand- Papa is assigned to oversee the building of a parade grandstand during WW 1. The men working under him are lazy however, and they resent papa's foreign accent which they mistake for German. 4- Mama's Bad Day- Nothing seems to be going right for Mama. Dagmar doesn't want to go to school, Katrin isn't doing her piano lesson, and Nels has been caught smoking.

Where else would you find this classic old TV show, a favorite of Swedish families?
My wife comes from a Swedish family, this was a beloved show in her family way back in the day. Who thought someone would have saved some of those episodes to enjoy again?

One of the great TV shows
The problem with "I Remember Mama" or just "Mama" is that there just weren't enough kinetoscopes made of the episodes. Starting with the very basic premise of the Kathryn Forbes' novel and play--the relatively minor trials and tribulations of a Norwegian immigrant family in early Twentieth Century San Francisco--the stories have real heart and soul. The half-hour teleplays (with the Maxwell House coffee commercials built right into the story) were written and directed by some top NYC talents and broadcast live. The family isn't remarkable. They are basically good people sometimes capable of being prideful, or selfish, or insensitive, but they face the usual crises that every family faces, and come together as a family in the end. The reproduction quality of this tape is poor--but I'll take it, alone with every other "I Remember Mama" episodes they can deliver.

It’s CLEAN and WHOLESOME
It was a fond memory as a child. Every Friday night my little sister and I watched the program and loved it. My cousin did the same thing and borrowed the book and CD from me. I wish they would run it again on TV. It’s

The characters are great in this sitcom too!
I enjoy the old sitcoms and the old originals. They are natural and have meaning to the story. Thank you for having a stock of the old movies!! I can re-live them over and over again.

The quality was a little rough but considering the age of the film it was well preserved. Very enjoyable.
