Worth it
Beautiful lens. I wish it could open a bit more, but it's crystal clear, and the declicked aperture is fantastic. The distortion around the edges is almost unnoticeable, which is also fantastic. If you're looking for a great cine lens at a great price, I'd definitely recommend this one.

Sharp and crisp lens
This lens is crisp, clear, sharp and everything else you want in a lens. It is a cinema lens so it doesn't communicate with the camera, this is by design, so as long as you are aware of this and use it for filming, you will love this lens!!

Amazing Value lens ( if you get a good one )
Hi This is an amazing value lens,, & it does do a great job. Well after a second try that is , ( first supplied lens was returned ) Finding optimum Focus is quite difficult with this lens,, you really need to open lens to T3.1 or equivalent F2.8 to get focus,, you can then stop down and adjust your camera settings for your desired shot,,, its pretty fiddly way to guarantee focus but a must,, As the depth of field is so great when stopped down you can get away with a quick guess in good lighting conditions,,, Note though, the distance markings on the lens are quite wrong,, i printed up labels for the lens to mark the correct focus distances. Its way nicer getting a Cine de-clicked version, i like the Cine focus & iris ring teeth,, a nice positive feel ,,, the non cine version i found finding the F & I rings very difficult in poor light. Its physically well built with a nice solid feel,, it does have a strange fixed hood cap assy that does not allow any filter attachment. Though the edge aberration is not amazing its pretty good, especially for a lens in this price range.. Overall its a great value lens,,, once again that's if you get a good one ,,, apparently its not just me who have had a dud the first try... Cheers Craig

Good lens, but not the best in low light
I bought this lens on account of its minimum focus range, and so far it's awesome. Great for close-ups. It's a very sharp lens, the aperture as well as the focus ring are like butter. Very smooth transitions. The one strife I have with it, however is that the T3.1 aperture limits its low-light shooting capabilities, and I have to jack up the ISO if I want to see anything. All in all, it's a good buy for a fugal indie filmmaker, and you get what you pay for. Would recommend.

Excellent Lens as usual
The optics on this lens have been compared to Tokina 11-16 (now 11-20) lens. This lens is generally sharper at the edges, I think. This lens is really great. It's perfect for that "wide shot, but not FISH EYE wide. I loved it. However, having also had the Lumix 12-35, I could not justify having this lens. But yeah, it's a great, great lens.

Good for video, okay for photos, disappointing vignetting...
I already owned the 85mm Rokinon Cine when I bought this lens and was excited for a wide angle lens built to the same standards with the same pricing. The lens does do fine with video especially when not wide open ( see sample footage here: [...] ). The build is good and it feels solid albeit plastic. The focus and aperture rings both had enough friction to stay where they were set, but were easy enough to move to make focusing a breeze. The lens delivered good contrast and color in my opinion. When shooting photos it was another story, however. I was shooting with this lens on a 5D Mark II and was very disappointed in the level of vignetting I experienced. It was bad enough that the in camera metering was unusable, often metering 2-3 stops off. Past f/5.6-f/8 it seemed to be fine, however. The lens showed decent sharpness and contrast when taking photos. I ended up returning the lens because it was not usable for what I wanted. I was really hoping to have a good lens that I could use for both photos and videos, and my expectations were reasonable, not expecting sharpness and quality of an L series lens. However, the severity of the vignetting, and the inability to even trust the in camera metering when shooting in Manual mode were a deal breaker. I understand some vignetting is to be expected wide open, but to have to close the lens down two stops just to make it usable was unacceptable for my needs.

Great lens, I use it for video to shoot ...
Great lens, I use it for video to shoot raw video on a Blackmagic Cinema Camera and it looks great! There are better lenses out there that cost 10-12x more, but this is great quality good enough for even 4K!

Probably awesome for video, but not what I expected for stills.
I bought and returned this lens. While it was noticeably brighter and wider than the Canon 17-40L... I didn't feel it was a very usable difference for stills. I admit that I may have felt differently if I shot video... but comparing it to the 17-40 at 17 had me questioning if the trade-offs were worth it for me. I didn't see enough improvement over the 17-40, which by most accounts, is already a soft lens (outside the center)... and by the time you get to the frame edges (on full-frame) the distortion with this 14mm is so high that I'd have to crop in anyway... unless I wanted that stretched out effect, otherwise the subject had better be far away, or kept in the center of the frame. I never took a shot that I couldn't duplicate, with better results, by taking a small step back and using the 17-40 at 17. *shrug* I wish I could have been excited about this lens and the 85mm Rok. Comparing the 85mm to my Canon 85 1.8 gave the same head-scratching feeling of "why?"... If you're a STILL SHOOTER primarily and you already own these focal lengths (or close to it) in decent glass... I'd suggest you take a 2nd look at what you already own. Can I give this a "meh" AND 5 stars? I guess not, but it's probably worth 4 if this does what you need it to do and you don't have other options in your bag. Clearly if you're buying it for the cine lens that it is... and have a follow-focus, then you'll have a different experience than I... but I was strongly encouraged to buy this lens because of the Amazon Deal of the Day... and researching online to find all the people saying this was also good for stills. This is why I'm posting my review. So many people say it's "sharp-sharp-sharp" and the copy I had didn't give me that impression... for video I think the form-factor would be awesome, but for a stills image comparison with the lenses I already own I felt like this lens gave up more than it brought to the party. It's easy to get caught up in the fantastic images you find on the net, and somehow convince yourself that you can buy the ability to make those pictures by sticking something on your camera, when the reality is (from my own comparison of 2 of these Roks vs. similar focal length lenses I already own)... is that you'd likely see the same image (or better) if the people posting those shots had the Canon or Nikon equivalent (higher-end) focal length lens.

Awesome lens
We did our first shoot with this lens on canon 5D M3 yesterday and I must tell you that this one of the fantastic lens I have ever used. Extremely wide and sharp, it gives the entire picture totally a different perspective. Very useful for hand held shoots. Go for this.

Excelente lente

Awesome outdoors!! Click less aperture is priceless!
I needed an affordable wide angle lens for video on my Canon 60D and came across the Rokinon 14mm Cine lens. This lens is awesome outdoors or where ever there is good lighting. It's okay indoors by bumping up the ISO but it still gives some unwanted noise. Best part is It has the click less aperture so a videographer can adjust the aperture on the fly without hearing the clicking sound which could ruin your footage all together. Great built! Great Price! Thank you Rokinon for having such affordable and great quality lenses.
