What to Expect the Toddler Years, 2nd edition Review: Full of valuable information - Full of valuable information, but also questions that seem redundant. If your child doesn't throw food at dinner, having a whole section about how to handle this can seem like a waste of space. But it is an excellent reference book and guidelines for the milestones your child should be reaching at each month Review: Great for first time mother's!!! - I have bought all the books from "What to Expect When Your Expecting", and "What to Expect the First Year", and now "What To Expect The Toddler Years". To be honest my mother is always in and out of my life. I have not had her by my side for anything really. She was not even at the hospital when I had my daughter. The point I am trying to make is that these books took her place for me. When I had questions and concerns, instead of turning to my mother, I turned to these books. These books have everything you need, from certain medical concerns to helping with disipline, and helpful tips about everything. I will always recommend these books, for the rest of my life. Please do yourself and your child a favor... buy these books. Best Wishes!!!

LOL I have just started reading the book and love it! Several tips have already helped and I ...
We have an almost 14 month old grandson and a granddaughter due in May. My husband and I watch our grandson and will be watching both babies while parents work (after Mama's maternity leave). The book arrived very promptly and is large! I lifted the Amazon package and thought wow, there must be a lot involved in the toddler years! LOL I have just started reading the book and love it! Several tips have already helped and I am anxious to read the chapter about introducing toddler to new baby. You can turn to whatever topic you are interested in. Originally I Googled about sand in a toddler's eyes because my husband built our grandson an awesome sand box. An excerpt came up from this book and I was sold and immediately ordered it on Google. I paid a little more to get Prime shipping. Would highly recommend this book to parents and grandparents! We have an only child and it has been over 30 years since she was a toddler. :)

This is THE book to have
I find myself referring to this book about once a month to make sure my toddler is on track. My wife actually gets tired of hearing me quoting the book. For each month, it tells you that your toddler should be able to do this, might be able to do that, and may even be able to do something else. My wife gets sick of my saying "by the end of the (nth) month, your toddler should be able to..." She just rolls her eyes. Seriously though, I recommend very highly this book to anyone that has a baby/toddler. There is a baby version of the book for kids under 1, which we received as a gift.

Another Great Resource
I own the whole series. So I obviously had to buy this one when my child became a toddler. This info is easy to find through out the book. I like how it tells me what to expect each month from my child. The only piece I don't like, which is an issue on all them, is how they mark the months. My son is 15 months, I need to be reading the 16th month. I don't get why they lay the books out that way. Makes it a little confusing.

A good book
I had the What to Expect the 1st Year and it really helped A LOT! Im a first time mom. It had great -info on understanding your child and how they understand things and how you can understand them. Im only on the 14th month right now but it is helping me communicate and teach my child without confusing her. I think it is just a good book all around, easy to read, understand. I really do enjoy reading them.

babies do have instruction manuals!
my parents used to say babies did not come with instruction manuals.....well this book is as close as its ever going to get. Forget about asking parents or other know it alls, all you need to know about your baby and how to manage most situations is here! An essential must have guide for every new parent. The truth is a prepared parent is a better parent. I am a physician and when it comes to my toddler her tantrums and hissy fits when eating I had to admit I don't know it all. This book will prepare you for almost everything.

1993
Suppose I should have looked at the original publish date. While alot of the advice is timeless and still relevant, some of it is very obviously from 1993

Livre ideal pour la bibiothèque de tout nouveau (ou pas) parent. On y trouve toutes les questions que l'on peut se poser, avec des réponses exhaustives. Tout sujet est très facile à trouver grâce à l'index figurant en fin de livre.
