NCE Power Cab DCC Starter Set NCE5240025

Works great... Great for dcc

Purchased for my husband who says: The NCE PowerCab is the best DCC starter system available. You can set it up in 15 minutes or less and it's easy to use. Fits well in one hand and the main function buttons (speed, horn, bell, light) are in locations where you can find them without looking. The push button speed controls are better than a large knob like you find on many systems, although the PowerCab does have a speed control wheel you can use if desired. I know quite a few people who use the PowerCab and they have never had any issues with them. The NCE system can be easily upgraded with more power if needed and even converted to radio control if desired. I highly recommend it.

This NCE PowerCab replaced my original Bachmann controller. Instruction manual and YouTube videos guided the installation. I installed a DPDT switch to toggle between my programming track and my main power bus. I can run four locomotives simultaneously with no issues. Always new tips and tricks to learn but this NCE PowerCab works great!

What a surprise, living in TX and the product shipped out from NJ next day stated be here in about 7-8 days. okay the way USPS been that means 10-12 days to my surprise it was here 4-5 days sooner . the box packed great, inside all looked well. to be honest have not tried it yet, did do lot research on the item or decoder types for me I am running a new layout with plans for max of 3-4 locos so this has the power. if not can get a upgraded supply, the other manufacturer was 150 more and has 2 throttles and more amps to run more trains. for me rather get track down, and running, I have 6 atlas locos they run little amps run great all will need decoders installed. recommend this decoder if starting out, limited budget for decoder want a USA made item that has the bells and whistles of the more expensive ones videos are all over the net on installing and wiring them. the Old DC standard well by the time you get all the ad on's cost is about same

I thought going from DC to DCC would be a daunting task given this "new" digital square wave technology.Then after a lot of research, thinking that it would be an interesting project to convert, into the available "starter" sets offered by NCE, Digitrax, MRC and Bachmann I decided that the NCE Power Cab was the way to go. I liked that the Power Cab control was hand-held. After receiving the Power Cab I set-up a "program track" with which to program DCC locomotives. I have to admit the Power Cab is easy and fun to use. The instruction book is well written and easy to follow.If you want to get involved with DCC, I recommend that you do your research on the DCC controllers. I did like, and considered, the Digitrax Zepher, but it was not hand-held, and after reading the many reviews comparing NCE and Digitrax, the consensus was that the NCE was easier to understand and use. So, yes, the NCE is easy to understand and use, but I have not tried the others, so this is a one-sided review, however, based on my "new" experience with the NCE Power Cab, I do recommend that you take a serious look at the Power Cab, I think that you would be pleasantly surprised at how easy and fun to operate.
