The inspiration for Ludovico Einaudi's I Giorni was a 12th-century folk song from Mali about a hippopotamus who was cherished by the residents of a nearby village but killed by a hunter. ''The song,'' writes Einaudi in his succinct liner note, ''is sung as a lament for the death of a king or a great person or for the loss of a loved one.'' The result is a tender & introspective set of fourteen piano pieces. This work was written after hearing the kora playing of Toumani Diabate whilst traveling in Mali. Originally released in 2008, I Giorni is available now as a 2 LP 180g vinyl edition.

So relaxing, yet absorbing as well
I had never heard of this artist until listening to a British Classical station. I was enthralled by the minimalistic chords and notes of the one song they played. I heard a good bit of the rest of the CD on Amazon Music and bought the CD.The whole sound and theme of the songs is beautiful. It's addictive to listen to often. It evokes a whole calm mood and gets stuck in your head even after it's over.I think I will try some more of Einaudi's other albums.

It's uplifting
I love listening to this while the kids are doing school work. It's uplifting without being distracting. Our finch likes it, too. He likes to sing and twitter with some of the songs. Ha ha ha

Exquisite peaceful, meditative music
I want everything he has ever composed and played. When you need peace -- in the morning, late at night, anytime really, listening to this pianist brings you to a place of beauty, of peace, of inner mindfulness (to use a much cliched word).

Just love Ludovico Einaudi
Another master piece of pure piano enjoyment. I just love his simple, but yet complex feelings that are evoked when I listen to his music. so soothing to the soul and there are so many great pieces here for me. For a first timer, this will become part of your collection as you delve into Ludovico's music. Just love.

lyrical but safe
Very reminiscent of "Music and Movement" - "Find a space children. Now pretend you are a tree that is blowing in the wind - it is a cool refreshing breeze on a hot summer's day and the grass nearby has just been mown. It is a happy time and now feel the music in your fingers and hands and arms and shoulders and swing swing swing swing!!! Let your toes, feet and legs join in the celebration but be careful don't crash into Rosemary Redrup, Susan Kacser, Robert Irwin or Stewart Grant" I like it even though it's somewhat formulaic and safe. It's a very solid four stars but it's not in the same league or stratosphere as Keith Jarrett

The piano before the orchestral storm
This is the album that got me into LE and is the perfect accompaniment to work, study, dinner etc. It is his solo piano driven work at its best. Later works are far more ambitious in scope and more orchestral (which is by no means a bad thing!) after this I advise a 15 year jump to Elements. Night and Drop will have you hooked, then work backwards through the albums

I Giorni
This album has haunting melodies and creates such an air of calm it is wonderful. Track 6 I know I have heard before either in an advert or somewhere on the telly and it is just wonderful. I have read reviews of how minimalist this album was, what it failed to say was just how soothing and soul touching it is

Very relaxing
I bought this item for the other half.I ended up playing it just as much, it is very relaxing and ideal for playing in the car on long tedious journeys. This was the first time I have heard of Ludovico Einaudi, but we are going to see him live in Sheffield in a few months. My normal taste is classic rock, so it is a nice change from the norm.

Great!
This was a recommendation from a friend. OMG! I could not believe it. The music takes you to a different dimension, it transforms your surroundings, it is simply magical!I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for instrumental music that would increase their creativity and/ or their ability to relax and dream.Absolutely fantastic!

Brilliant composer
I am a big fan of Ludovico Einaudi and am very pleased to own this collection of sheet music. The contents follow his CD "I Giorni". The level of difficulty fluctuates within the work and is thus suitable for a range of players though one needs a good span/reach for a lot of pieces. I enjoy working with this collection very much but there is a slight difficulty with the binding used which makes it difficult to keep pages open, a ringbound collection would have been preferable.

Very pleasant music, most will be familiar
Very pleasant, easy to listen to piano music. Once you've heard the album you'll know where the BBC get it all from. Nice to have in the background. It's not Chopin, but it's very pleasant.

Beautiful
The melodic notes played by this man captivate me every time and I don't tire of his music - I find something new each time I listen...this was a gift and I know it will be enjoyed by the person, as a contemporary take on 'classical' music....much more relaxing, too!
