Kept vacillating between this, a Starrett and a Mitutoyo model. In the end, I went with this based on the reviews indicating it was fairly accurate and given that it was less than a third the price of the two suppliers I am more familiar with. Purchased it for a specific project needing dimensional checks on 17.12" base items that were a bit out of the reach of my 6" Mitutoyo calipers and it's been fine. I added a Starrett 234A-18 end measuring rod to help check calibration. Measurements were fine and the basic functions available worked like a charm for the field measurements I had to make. Will come in handy for other side projects. Uses a more standard CR-2032 (I seem to recall, writing from memory) battery that is a bit easier to come by than the batteries the Mitutoyo calipers and micrometers I use take (for me, that's a big plus since I need it for field measurements quite often). The case is functional - similar in design and function to those that my other measuring instruments were delivered in. Hmmm, well, I did get a really nice wood case for a caliper and micrometer as a special bundle on one order versus the just standard plastic :)

Right on the money

Great caliper. Head is tight and does not wobble. Also within .001 from tip to throat. I measured my 18" micrometer standard to find it within .0005. Can't beat it!

This Fowler 24" digital caliper is excellent. I used everything from gauge blocks to lathe standards to check the accuracy.It passed with flying colors. I"m very happy with it.
