Keeping Geese: Breeds and Management Paperback – April 30, 2012

As a first time Goose owner, this book has become my bible. In preparation for gosling arrival, we purchased three books. The rest just sit on a shelf but this one is getting pretty worn. Clear illustrations, detailed section on diseases and disorders, bios on the types of domestic geese, unsentimental practical care from an author who has the academic background and experience to outline the pros and cons of almost every aspect of keeping and breeding geese. Would recommend reading if you are considering becoming the keeper of these weird and wonderful creatures.

Comprehensive information about geese is hard to find. This book covers many breeds and their characteristics and differences. It also covers feeding and management of adults and goslings

Very informative, particularly the breed descriptions. Several anecdotal stories to keep me entertained while I learned.

It is a wonderful book. I would recommend it to beginners and professional. I am a beginner and I found the book is thorough and with plenty of illustrations.

Just as good as the Storeys books. Which surprisingly does not have a book for geese. I'm glad I found this one

this is a great bible for the goose keeper, even the experienced farmer will learn a thing or two from this read.

Excellent write up on most of the major breeds of geese available at this time.I was impressed that it covers some very specifically American breeds.

A good book if you are looking for more information on heavy European breed geese. While not so much a compendium of keeping, it does have a lot of useful information from an experienced keeper of geese.This is one of the better books out there for a subject matter that seems to be widly ignored unlike chickens and ducks keeping books.

Excellent, authoritative book on keeping geese. Most, if not all, questions answered

This is an excellent book covering all aspects of goose breeds, breeding and management. We are first time goose keepers, although we have kept ducks for many years, and we have found this book invaluable. The Ashtons are very knowledgeable and their writing style in this book, along with the large number of colour pictures, makes it very accessible.
