I bought this for my brother in-law for Christmas. We have been to several different Trader Vic's and he always gets at least twooooo Mai Tai's. He love, love, loves Trader Vic's and says this was great.

The Orignal
This is a great Mai Tai mix. It's very sour so it takes a lot of Dark Rum to balance it off. When mixed correctly it has a refreshing sour bite with a hint of Amaretto. It reminds me of an Old Fashion. If you prefer a sweeter Mai Tai I would recommend Bob Chin's premix. .

This really has no resemblance to a real, authentic Mai Tai. If you use the original, from scratch recipe, you get a mai tai.... this stuff is just awful. And if you follow the directions and add juice of a whole lime, it's worse. Just steer clear of this awful mix!!!!

I'd been trying to find a bottle of this stuff in stores for years before I finally decided to buy this online. The Mai Tais came out good, but I think a Mai Tai made from scratch following the original Trader Vic's recipe still comes out better.
