I got lucky and bought right before the spontaneous 300$ price increase.... right before everyone gets their tax refunds.....I'm a licensed electrician, I've installed 30-50 fans so far. This is by far the biggest headache of an install I've ever done in my life. The fan blades DO NOT hold themselves in place when you are mounting them to the frame. Simple slits in the wood could have made this process much easier, but THIS company doesn't do that. If you do not hold the blades on yourself, they fall off.... down to the ground. I like a fan blade to AT LEAST hold itself up while I set a screw on my drill.... I had to balance the blades on my shoulder to get the 1st screw in for each blade. To top that off I had 3 screws snap In half since they have absolutely no system to make the screw holes line up correctly.The fan is not "smart" like they say, THEY CHEATED!!!! The fan is made "smart" by a controller you hide in the ceiling box, ITS NOT BUILT INTO THE FAN.... like it should be, paying, now the new 800$ price tag. The controller is very very hard to access once you compete the installation. Soooooo.... IF you change your Wifi password, your screwed. You'll have to remove the lighting, then remove a blade or two, to get to the control box hidden in the ceiling.... just to press a reset button. Wow.... OVERKILL. I don't have do any of that BS with minka aire.I just got a new router today, from a new internet company... my fan is now "broken" until I press that reset button.... remember this is a 12 blade fan, so you'll have to remove a blade or two, then take down the housing up in the ceiling, just to touch the reset button. ...................... ...... .... ...... ......As for air movement, this fan is AMAZING!!!!! but that's all it does right......There's a high pitch ringing noise that comes from the fan. I thought I was crazy at 1st since my mother and another one of my friends said that there was no ringing noise at all. I've had a total of 8 friends come over and only 3 of them were able to hear the high pitch ringing noise.... soooo just a FYI.... there's a chance your ears won't be able to hear it.... and you won't be forced to return like me. I can hear it much more louder and clear than my other 3 friends. I'm 25 years old.The minka aire windomelon is 5" longer, easier installation(20min vs the 3hrs it took for this modern forms). All the "smart" controls are BUILT into minka aire, which is a major upgrade and is 300$ cheaper, and probably 5x quieter. Minkaaire does have less air movement. The minka aire does also have a high pitch ringing noise, BUT it's nowhere near the loudness of this modern forms unit..... ehhhh choice is yours.
