I think the pictures are good and easy to follow. I like that this book teaches through phrases. It's easy to learn a good amount of sign language that is easy to use. Review: Excellent resource in SEE signing! - I'm updating my review because I have since learned more about sign language since ordering this book. This are several types of sign language one can learn. One is American Sign Language. Which is much like learning Spanish but with signing the grammar and syntax is different. One is SEE, Signing Exact English, which was mainly taught in deaf schools because it more in line with the English language. Tenses are taught, and connecting words which are left out in ASL. SEE is easier to learn and makes it easier for deaf kids to understand spoken English. This book is SEE and it's an excellent workbook. It's not just a list of signed words to memorize. It's written conversationally, with quizzes throughout on what has been learned. It's great. I paid 80 cents for it plus shipping. So worth it. There is also PSE, which I'm not familiar with so don't discount this book because of it's publishing date or because of what someone else says about it not being like ASL. It's not and that is the intention.

ASL Must have!
Great resource. In addition to my course material (actually in place of) I am using Signing Made Easy. I have a few ASL instructional manuals and I am happy to have this as a reference. Even though I have several other illustrated ASL books this one has a lot of different signs that are not included in the other material. It is always a good idea to have more than one ASL dictionary type books as all of them don't have the same signs. Because this book also includes information on deaf culture it makes interactions within this community a little easier for me (a hearing person) to understand.

Good information, but not quite ASL
I do enjoy the simplicity of this book, but it should be known that it is for signed exact English (or something approximate to it) and therefore does not teach ASL grammar. But the signs are useful and shown in a method that works well.

Great book, but not completely.
I purchased this book, with the intension to learn ASL. It's a good book, but pictures are small. Instead you need to buy (from the same author) Singing Illustrated. This one really show BIG pictures, the section "Memory Aid" help me on my learning process. This one REALLY it's worthy. And it's cheaper!
