Big sparks and some globs- AWESOME Ferro Rod
This Ferro Rod is big, easy to hold, and strikes REALLY easily. I use my knives (Mora, Condor, Ontario RAT) with spines I ground to 90 degrees and they work great, but... if you can get one of those actual scrapers that come with some rods, or even better the saw from a multi tool, you’ll be blown away. I typically use FireSteel dot com, and of course they’re superb. However this enormous Ferro Rod with a lanyard is honestly unbeatable. It works great. I’m going to buy at least five more. My video sucks and doesnt begin to demonstrate the spark shower, but then tinder goes right up. You can see the ember where I’d struck it already but you get the point. It’s definitely worth it. I trust my life to this thing and that was a surprise. UPDATE: First I am not sponsored or being given anything for my review (although I wish I was)! Also, I just wanted to add a couple newer photos. I started to make a handle for one, but didn’t cut the stick so ended up with a gigantic, super stable (and absurdly silly yet effective) FireSteel using a (4”?) sawzall blade with the paint sanded off.

Very robust and effective.
Works very well, produces a large amount of sparks that are very very hot. My only complaint is that it's heavier than I thought it would be, but they shrink with use so...

Compact is not always best.
Chose this one for its length and thickness, was not disappointed. It took the place of my other thin cheapy's immediately. Far easier to hold, control, and handles all the pressure you can apply without fear. The volume of sparks is significantly greater than the others I've had. Great for when you don't have time to make a long project out of getting a fire started.

Good product, good price
Bayite makes a nice ferro rod, have a few different sized ones and they all work well. The 6in length provides a good grip and strike, recommend buying a few sizes for pack weight management

Good for a beginner
It’s a bit small but will work for every once in a while easier to carry. Sparks well and easy to use. Takes a sharp edge to spark

Bayite 1/2 Inch x 6 Inch Large Ferro Rod – Powerful and Reliable
The bayite 1/2” x 6” ferro rod is an excellent fire-starting tool and one of the most reliable I’ve used. The large diameter makes it easy to grip, even with cold or wet hands, and the length gives great control and leverage while striking. I don’t use a dedicated striker with this rod at all—instead, I use the back of my Bahco Laplander saw blade, and it works perfectly. The squared spine of the Laplander throws a massive shower of hot sparks with minimal effort and actually performs better than any separate striker I’ve tried. It’s convenient, efficient, and one less piece of gear to carry, making it an ideal pairing for camping and bushcraft. The ferro rod itself is very well made, durable, and consistent. It lights tinder quickly and reliably in all conditions. Whether you’re building a kit or just want a dependable ferro rod that performs every time, this one is hard to beat. Highly recommended. 🔥

Money well spent
Right hardness. Sparks easily. Would be perfect if it came with a lanyard.
