Equisite Workmanship, Sparks Joy!
With Knipex, it's tough to go wrong. A premium price for a premium product, but worth it. I was looking at lots of other brands. None had the narrow really long bills that I really wanted, not had the quality, or the reviews to back them up. I spent $35 instead of $5 or $10, but these go in my primary tool tote, where I have a few other Knipex tools, which I will proudly use until the day I day. I will get joy every time I use these. As Marie Kando states, look for those things in life that "spark joy". These do that.Note that the tips touch first with just a slight bit of light visible along the shanks so that when you squeeze the handle they go flat with the tension at the tip. Perfection. Also note they don't have any spring mechanism. They move freely, yet without play. A spring could be nice when using them, but they they don't store right as they splay out, unless you add a locking mechanism, which adds complexity and has to be released every time one uses the tool. This way they store in a tool pouch, yet work freely enough where one won't miss the spring, and no locking mechanism to fumble with. The handles are nicely shaped so that they can be opened of closed with one hand. And the coating is not that absurdly thick crud that you see on many tools that will break down, looks like cr*p, and gets in the way when storing the tool.Knipex, highly recommended!

Should have bought these first
Replacing a cr*ppy pair made by one of the random named PRC suppliers. The last pair were made from pretty soft steel and even when knew the tips were offset enough to be problematic. After a few uses the jaws bent a bit and the pliers were pretty much useless. The knipex pliers were about 2x more expensive but when they arrived immediately noticed the jaws aligned very closely and gripped small parts much better. After several uses no change even in the skinny tips so these are likely made with real tool steel instead of some cheap substitute.Bottom line with precision tools a bargain probably isn't a bargain but good quality - time is money.

Knipex make the best tools available in the US. Only Klein comes close.

Typical high Knipex quality.
I have used many cheap tools throughout the years, and for many purposes they are fine. But finely crafted objects, especially tools, are things of joy that can last for generations and make life better and easier. I have a number of Knipex tools and know them to be among the best. This set of needle nose pliers is no exception. Everything is precisely made from excellent materials. The price is significantly higher than even a good set of alternative pliers; however, the quality of the Knipex is FAR superior to most of the common models, and that quality just makes them work much better and last much longer. The only thing that gave me some pause in buying these pliers was the description of them having smooth surfaces on the faces of the jaws, because that could easily cause slippage when using them. I was pleased to find that the jaws actually have finely machined, tiny ridges that will not easily mar the workpiece but will grip it well enough for the more delicate tasks these little pliers are designed to handle. Mine will be primarily devoted to small electrical work where the long, thin jaws are exactly what are needed to hold and bend components. I can see them being used for jewelry, gunsmithing, or other projects where small items and tight spaces are present. I never like to abuse my tools; however, these pliers are strong and durable if used in a reasonable manner. This shouldn't be the only set of needle nose pliers you own (Knipex makes some great heavier models), but if you do the kind of work they are designed for, you shouldn't be without them. They really are that good, as are the other Knipex tools I have. Make sure you can keep them in a safe place, because people will want to walk away with tools like this if they ever get their hands on them -- and you will feel the pain of loss when you need them and discover they're missing.

Great pliers, made better with a bit of DIY
These needle nose pliers are probably the best needle nose I've seen, with a very powerful and precise grip and stayes open in whatever position you leave it. The only complaint I have is the gripping part has no groves or grooves, it's completely smooth. This makes grabbing and tugging on things (my main use for needle nose) a slippery task. This was easily fixed by grinding in some groves with a file.
