Theological Interpretation of the New Testament: A Book-by-Book Survey

Great book.

This is a very readable, yet comprehensive book. It is worthy and easy for a serious Bible Reader, a supplement to a Teacher, or a resource for a Bible Study Group. Comprehensible and readable are the key words.

This is an eclectic collection of articles covering every book of the New Testament. As such the theology ranges through the theological spectrum. Not every article is "conservative."For instance the reader must be familiar with ideas like "Q" and "Second Isaiah" to get though the chapter on Mark. However, the chapter on Philippians (by N.T. Wright) is worth the price of the book.The authors delve into the history of the book (beware of the one on James) and theological meaning.Again, this is not for beginners since there is a lot of unexplained short-hand on various theological positions and expressions. If not taken carefully some of the articles could be misleading since they are unbalanced and uneven as to a single system of thought.Possibly this is best as a supplement reader to something with a single motif.

Concise and informative! One of the best books to summerize the New Testament in providing an overview that is simple and educational.

Generally useful. It gives a good 10,000 ft view of each book of the NT helping the reading get a feel for the place of each book in the overall canon of the Bible.

A fabulous in depth text book on theology featuring the work of many first class scholars. I particularly liked how it was divided book by book which helped a great deal with my studies and made it easier to find the information relevant to me at the time.
