Okay bike until you add the miles
This is an okay bike for the price. No it’s not a carbon fiber but the frame is not that heavy. I had a triathlon trek Hilo 2000 that was very fast and responsive but doesn’t do as well as this on the climbs. I live in TN so most of my country roads have 15-30% elevation grades. Gears are good enough to climb. I have put 500 miles on this bike so far.Only thing I would recommend is having a mechanic put it together if you are not mechanically Inclined. I had to adjusts the gears and on rough roads, these gears need constant adjusting after rides. It’s worth learning but could really put a damper on things if you don’t know what you're doing. Yes you have to put the tape on the handle bars; which was great for me as I like to adjust the outer cables to my liking.Lastly, tires are one of the thickest, heaviest tires I have seen on a road bike. I changed over to continentals 5000 and my speed was WAY better. Not an upgrade to an expert rider.Update: save your money. 300 miles my chain broke. No big deal. Less than 1,000 miles my back tire bent laterally and could not get back true. I weigh 155. 1500 miles in I start having drivetrain issues. My fourth cog on the cassette is bent and keeps switching to other gears. Everything on this bike is cheap. Save or buy something older.

New to the sport
Bike came double boxed and well packed with foam covering anything that could have been damaged. Shipped quickly too. Easy to put together. Everyone seems to knock the Schwinn brand but would have paid double or more for same specs on a trendy brand. Just getting into riding so this works great now and should give me some room to grow...Lost a star due to the bar tape not being the “Schwinn double bar gel tape”

Cool bike
I like the bike! I’m a beginner road biker, and it rides pretty smooth. Putting it together was a bit challenging but I got it done. I’ve had never worked on a bike before. The seat is a bit hard for me but I’m sure a more experience rider would be fine.

Am I enjoying this thing!
I think I got a great deal on this bike. The model has probably been discontinued. But I love it. I have never had a bike like this and it took me a while to figure out how to adjust it but I think I got it (thank God for YouTube!). I'm having the time of my life with it. I'm in shape but not for bike riding and can only do 10 to 12 miles at a time. And I enjoy every minute of it!

Schwinn Fastback 2
My wife's new "triathlon bike".. She's in her second year of triathlons so still a newbie. This bike is perfect for her daily rides and a huge improvement over the borrowed $2,5000 triathlon bike she was using.

Unfinished, good start. Schwinn.
Quick release front hub doesn't fit easily. Handlebars left untaped, do it yourself. At $699, pricey. Good gearing, braking.

flat tire in 3 days, replacement inner tube came fast
My front tire went flat in 3 days. Called up and they sent me a new tube. Installed it without too much difficulty. Tire holds air now. Also and as I found out when dissembling the front wheel, the original inner tube failed at a seam, not a puncture from a spoke. Found no spokes protruding through the rim.As to ride, the bike has a nice lightness. It seems easier to peddle than my old one. The low gear is welcome on up hill climbs. Gear shifting is smooth. Occasionally got off gear. Once had to replace chain on gear. I guess the assembly could use some tuning.
