Great cajon!
I’ve researched tons of cajons, and always hated how they sound thin, or weak, like beating on a thin cardboard box. I wanted one that would have a wide dynamic, like drums sort of. Then, I found this one. The bass rings nicely, and is a great contrast to the other variations of tone. Easy to use, light enough to take anywhere, expert quality and durable. Overall, a great value for the money. It’s even adjustable to an extent. I was looking for something to replace a drummer. Tall order. Once again, Meinl shows they are the top shelf of percussive tones.

Pro drummer loves this!
My best friend is a professional drummer who was looking for something to use for rehearsals and for semi-acoustic gigs. I purchased this (I own a studio) thinking it could be a good option. It's well made, and sounds great! There is a snare sound at the top -- not exactly sure how to adjust that to eliminate it if needed (we're currently using this as a kick or "bass drum") without unscrewing the face (I do wish they made these with an easy option to either use or muffle the snare sound), but in all honesty, it really sounds great. The finish is beautiful (I purchased a cover for it so it wouldn't get bashed up). By itself, it gives a deep nice slap sound for the body, and a good snare sound from the top. This is a good cajon for beginners as well as pros. My pro drummer loves it! Recommended!

MY FAVORITE CAJON!
This cajon sounds AMAZING! I have played dozens of cajon’s from many different manufacturers and I think this is the one to get and here’s why! Sound: Low end is excellent but not too overpowering. Snare sound is great but not the very best I’ve heard. Others I have played with a better snare sound had almost no low end but this cajon is pretty well balanced sound wise. Very rich and pleasant sound! Playability: this cajon’s sweet spot for that rich “kick” sound is higher on the front face then any cajon I have played which is so nice! I don’t have to bend or hunch way over to reach the bottom of the cajon just to get a solid thump. If your going to mic up your cajon often then you may want to consider getting one with a hole in the back as the mic will not be in the way as much, and looks cleaner on stage; but if your going to be using this more in an acoustic setting I totally recommend having the sound come out the front! It fills the room so much better and the sound isn’t so directional like a traditional cajon is. Fit/finish: It‘s excellent! Looks super classy and feels extremely solid. 10 out of 10 in this department! If your still reading this by now then you probably care as much about music and instrumentation as I do. I am personally very happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend it to a friend or fellow musician. My guess is that you will like it as much as me especially if you're going to be using it in an acoustic setting and don't need the most amount of snare sound in the world. Hope this info helps someone out their deciding if this cajon is right for them.

Great sounds!
Bought this as a gift for my 11 year old grandson. I was concerned that it said, “jumbo” but it was not huge. He sat right on it and started playing right away. He truly enjoyed it! Really great bass sounds and the snare sounds are equally great. Watched a lot of video reviews and written reviews about the quality and they were correct. Definitely recommend.

Great instrument!
Overall I really like it so far. I have played other hand percussion instruments for years and a cajon is something I recently found out about and wanted. I picked this one because it had good reviews and price. I also picked it because it has front facing sound ports where the sound comes out of instead of the traditional smaller port in the back. The description and reviews said this produced better bass and over all better projection of sound. I have to say I was a little disappointed of the deepness of the bass. Don't get me wrong, it IS much better than other cajons I have played, but don't expect some dubstep bass drop noise to come out of it! Overall though the sound quality is great, very satisfied with all the different tones and sounds I can get out of it depending on where you hit it and how hard. After a little practice, I was making some nice sounding beats and it is extremely fun to play and experiment with. The only thing I DIDN'T like about it was the snare wires. To me, they made to much of a ticking sound when each of the wires would brush the inside of the drum. This was easily fixed by me taking the front plate off and taping the snare wires together so that it now makes more of a thwack noise when all the wires hit at once. Another adjustment I made was to not screw the top two corners screws back in so that the small space would provide a nice slapping sound when I hit the corners (which worked!). PROS: Great overall sound quality, good bass, looks awesome, easy to make adjustments, very reasonable price. CONS: Snare wires' sound (in my opinion, others may like the sound, but this is "my" review), no seat cushion

Big box and big boom for a taller person
My review of the Meinl Jumbo Bass cajon is based ultimately on my wants and how my expectations were met. That said, here is a rundown of what I desired and how this cajon fared: 1. Size and comfort: I am 6’3” and wanted a larger box to sit on. I’ve sat on an average $100 cajon, and though they would hold my 225 lbs. up, the play area felt small for my hands. The jumbo part of this cajon is correct, because it is a pretty big box. It’s comfortable to sit on and provides an adequate area of play for the size of my hands. I definitely recommend this cajon for the big-and-tall musician out there. 2. Sound: I ordered a bass cajon because I wanted that boom, and the cajon delivers. The snares add a good jingle to it but aren’t overwhelming. The output hole is at the bottom of the front, so acoustically sound is going to travel forward and up, so it is going to project well. And this thing can get loud if you’re really banging on it. However, because this is a fiberglass box with a wood face panel, it doesn’t hold the same warmth as an all-wood cajon. But that’s not a negative – just keep in mind it won’t sound the same. 3. Appearance: In short, it looks nice, especially the wood face panel. Because it looks similar to a subwoofer, it’s a more novel cajon. But its darker, more neutral color doesn’t stand out and isn’t flashy, and I like that. It allows the sound to shine all the more.

If you like to drum then this cahon is for you.
This Cajon sounds amazing. It's as close as i can get to having a set of drums. Well worth the money. Tried other Cahons and they fail in comparison to this one.

Bass. Bass. Bass.
Superb drum with a booming bass. It's tall so check the measurements. I'm 5ft 6" and it's fine. If I was an inch or two shorter I'd struggle. Two crucial adjustments (in my opinion) are needed to get the perfect sound from it. 1. Remove the face plate and GENTLY bend the snares towards the face plate direction. Place a finger near where they attach to avoid strain on the solder and just add a little extra curvature. This will give a much needed boost to the snare sound (which is a touch weak out of the box). 2. While it's opened up, drop a tea towel/T shirt in the box. This takes the boom out of the bass with no impact to the volume. This gives a nice "thuddy" bass and takes reverberation out of the snare... Dryer, crisper sound. Perfect. Great fun to play. If you have a good sense of rhythm you'll really enjoy this instrument. I've been a hobby drummer for years (along side my professional instrumental playing) and I've picked it up instantly. It is expensive... But all instruments are these days. I was shocked to see how much a poor quality digital keyboard costs these days. Even a small xylophone will set you back £150+ at the moment. So relatively it's okay price wise but there are cheaper (less exciting) one's available. Most importantly it sounds great... The video is from before I improved the sound... So sounds even better now.

Boom cajon , poderoso, gran sonido y precio justo !
