The Renewing of the Mind Project: Going to God for Help with Your Habits, Goals, and Emotions

Exactly what the Church needs!
Has Christ transformed your life? Have you ever felt like the power of God in your life was a lie? I believe Christians are leading defeated lives and that’s one reason the Church is such a mess. I think Barb has hit on the key that’s been missing in the Church! Maybe it’s just some of us who have been missing out, I don’t know. I do know I have a friend who would tell me that when she had to go to God with her emotions, she prayed until she felt better. I always thought I might never be able to come out of my prayer closet if I did that. It took many times of praying to get feelings resolved, sometimes years to get where I wanted to be.That’s not true in my life now. Barb has giving me the missing tool. I discovered Barb’s books the very end of December. I’ve always known that lies are out there but I didn’t realize I was believing them in my own life. I was able to use renewing my mind to get freedom from depression when I was first saved and to help me to walk in the ways of God but I had character flaws and bad habits that I just couldn’t figure out how to get help from God with. She helped me get insight on an issue on the very first day. I have had unbelievable break thrus so far. I was able to start exercising daily, I haven’t done that for years. I am able to stick to a diet, haven’t done this well in years either. I have a way to deal with my emotions with God that have been really helpful for the first time. God helped me thru her method to stop procrastinating. God has helped me so much using these little tweaks that she’s given me.Renewing our mind works to change our lives. Using the questions she provides and the journaling have been the key for me. I praise God for this and I hope churches everywhere teach this to their congregants so that people can have the abundant lives that Jesus came to give them.

The material in the book? 5 stars. The physical book itself? 1 star.
I love holding a physical book and being able to flip back and forth easily, but I'm sort of sorry I didn't go with the Kindle edition of this one. I just got the book and just started reading it, and I love it - Barb's tips for renewing the mind are hugely helpful, and I already feel a difference in my attitude and relationship with God.The actual, physical book, though, is disappointing for a brand-new book: I had pages falling out on day one, and it's only gotten worse. The publisher obviously didn't do a good job gluing the pages to the spine, and I can tell it's not going to take long before this book resembles one that's twenty times its age - disappointing, since I'm sure I'm going to want to read and refer to it often. The text deserves a five-star rating, but since the book itself is so shoddy and deserves a 1-star rating, I'm splitting the difference and giving it three stars. Let the buyer beware - maybe I just got unlucky with my copy, but I did want to reach out to the publisher (listed as Truthway Press) to let them know. However, I can't find any contact information for them; they don't have an online presence.

The Renewing of the Mind Project: Going to God...
I might have to add to review later but for now, I have been SO pleased with this book :) I haven't had the best of luck getting books off here. Somehow like more than half have disappointed and I guess I am the type that is better looking into it in a store-in person and deciding that way before purchase. That said, this book has been exactly as it seems (to me) exactly as advertised :) This is a crucial step for Christian's; not a popular one these days, but still equally important as to the Saints of old. We need God's transformation in our lives and this only takes place through daily yielding our hearts and minds to his will. This book is like a boost in that direction :) The author shares personal testimony and to be honest, I think that the best Christian experts on anything are the ones' who speak from personal experience. The person of the Trinity is a personal God and so I want to read from others who also "know him" as I do. I don't want to hear a bunch of fancy terminology and seminary theology gibberish to lift up the author...This is exactly the opposite-it lifts up God (not the author :) I would rather read one book by a real Christian than 20 "life changing" books by some narcissistic Charlatan (I won't meniton names, but if they have "special revelation" for you and a "word from God", yea ;) if they have "promises" for you and you just need to " follow their formulas" to get into these promises fulfilled...Charatan ;)

Mind renewed and habits changed!
This is a book that has changed my life. It's definitely in the top 3 best life-changing books I've read. It all goes back to the key scripture: Romans 12:2. Our part is little (taking the time to renew our mind and go to God). And His part is this big, huge part (He changes and transforms us). I used this book to change my eating habits and also my social media habits. The sets of questions are so good about pointing us back to truth. After each set of questions, there's scriptures to read. At some point I began to use the scriptures as a basis for writing out scripture prayers in my journal: the Lord really met me in that! What's the evidence that God has used this book to help renew my mind? Well, I've lost weight and I'm finding victory in the area of social media. Oh, and I've demolished the skinny idol. I have more peace. I don't feel compelled to eat at certain times anymore that were habitual times of eating. I get excited about having my quiet time with the Lord. I'm so thankful that Barb was obedient to God's call for her to write this book. If you are struggling with a habit or want to create new habits, this book is a power-house resource for that. It all starts with going to God for help! It's in His strength! It's going back to what HE says is possible--and all things are possible through Him!

Wished I knew about this book sooner
A very well written book. Author is honest in giving her experiences.I already knew most of the scriptures either through bible study, sermons, or testimonials, etc., but missed a vital step: renewing the mind. I strongly believe this is why some Christians stumble in their walk with the Lord.

Amazing truth journaling tool!
Another wonderful book by Barb Raveling. I find her straight forward advice and questions so helpful. I go to this book often and journal through her questions to get to the root of what really bothering me. Then I am able to bring what’s bothering me to God and He helps me deal with my thoughts and feelings.
