The Word On Finances

Most of Larry Burkett's books on finances are good. Especially the Money Matters series (for teens, for kids, etc). This book lists the Bible passage references Larry searched and found for many financial topics, and quotes the passages under the topical heading [like debt, or retirement, or borrowing, or saving, or inheritance]. Unlike other books that sort Bible verses and passages and group them under topical headings, this book has a summary of what the gist of the passages say at the top of each section, which is useful.

A must for believers to read. Forgiveness is viewed by believers as forgiving somebody who wronged us but is hard to be associated with financial matters. The book gives scriptures to forgive those who financially wronged us. Something difficult for believers as we commonly help those in need and this gesture tend to be abused.

This is a nice selection of a lot of scripture. There are short editorial comments for each segment, but as a whole, the complexities of the original are not tied in a neat bow. Which is fine with me. It provides what I was after. There is room for interpretation amongst these quotes, if one is inclined to seek it.

With so many verses covering finances and finance-related topics, this resource is essential for gathering them all together and organizing them by topic and reference. It sits on my shelf right next to my concordance and I pull it down whenever finances come up.
