My Mother Is the Strongest: A Story About Homebirth

Precious book
This book was great for my toddler as we prepped for a homebirth this past year. The book was a bit wordy for my toddler but we would tell our own story guided by the pictures to make it hit home better for her. I hope to share it with our new sweet babe when she is older!

Favorite Home Birth book
This is a great book to prep your kids for home birth (especially if you plan to freebirth). My kids understand that birth is a normal, natural process of life and now understand where babies come from. They are really in tune to noises and movements I'll be make for labor and love the wave references. I love that the book has some comedy in it because it helped my kids engage with the book.

Cute book
This is such an adorable book to help prepare my 21 month old for the birth of her baby brother soon. She loves the book. A bit for older children, but awesome descriptions and interactions!

A frog named Earl?
Something clearly went wrong at the printing department. The first 14 pages are about “A Frog Named Earl”. I’m still curious about the book so I’m returning this one and hoping the replacement order will be correct.*EDiTAfter receiving the replacement of the book I’ve changed my review to 5 stars. The book is beautiful and I love the description of birthing waves. Nice dreamy and calm illustrations and my 2 year old toddler really enjoyes the book. I hope it will help him understand the concept of becoming a big brother soon.

Great book for sibling and parents.
I cute little book about a mom explaining birth to her older child before her homebirth. I had a home birth and got this book for my oldest before my second baby was born. Great little readfor sibling expecting a new baby.

Entertaining and has a Midwife in it
It's incredibly entertaining for my 3 year old, and he's using terms from the book. Highly recommend it.People complain that's it's about unassisted birth. Even thought the books focus is on the mom, there is a Midwife that is shown in the illustrations, unpacking and later watching the baby come.Highly recommend it, and if you plan to have a Midwife, get it with a few other books like Hello Baby.

Good, would recommend
Good enough book. My son liked it and it definitely did what it was meant to do which is acclimate him to the idea of homebirth. In the illustrations there is a woman who seems to be a midwife, i pointed her out because we had a midwife, but the text makes no mention of a midwife. In the text, only the father assists with the birth.

Buy it
I bought this to read with my 2.5 year old in preparation for our homebirth. We really enjoyed it. We didn't read all the words, but we looked at all the pictures and talked and kind of made up our own narrative. I think this book is an excellent resource for families planning a home birth. Yes, it's a water birth in a bath tub, and we planned a land birth, but the affect is the same. When we got to that page my daughter just got super excited and kept saying, "He's coming! He's coming!"

Home water birth
Perfect to read to siblings who will and did experience home birth. It would help to give mindfulness to everyone involved.

Lovely freebirth/homebirth story
The only negative is the book is somewhat “cheap” quality - even the style of the font doesn’t seem well considered. Some of the story is a bit long-winded with the inclusion of she said he said, and I say this only because I am reading this to a 2.5yo. I think it really only needs the basic explanation of whats happening in the family in the lead up to labour and birth and speech can be fleshed out by the reader if needed.Anyway, overall it is a wonderful story and so so grateful that it is focused around the pregnant mother, the young child with some inclusions of dad being a support partner. I love that there isn’t mention of a professional person (ie midwife) as this opens up the inclusivity for freebirth families. It’s a great book overall.
