What I expected

Four Stars for me is a very good review. It meets my expectations (but does not exceed them). Unit is compact and made well. The connector is short as most standard cable unions are, but for this application, it could have been a bit longer to make installation and connection easier. I installed this on a camping trailer with 3/4 inch thick plywood walls so the connector was well inside the wall making it impossible to screw a cable on to it. It wasn't a real big deal as I simply ran the cable through the hole in the wall to the outside, screwed it onto the connector and then mounted the unit on the outside of the camper wall. Doesn't seem to difficult but it made applying the butyl sealing tape evenly and neatly just a bit more difficult. The only other minor negative is that once closed, the lid doesn't close tightly. It just kind of hangs down in the closed position and rattles away going down the road. In the open position, it snaps open and locks solidly in the open position as it should .... just wish it did the same in the closed position. Small complaints but as I said, 4 Stars is still a very good review .... I do like the product.

I was expecting something a bit nicer based on the high reviews. This doesn't feel like it is going to last a long time. For the price, it is okay, but it isn't what I'd call a high quality fixture like a Hubbell or Leviton electrical fixture. It is just a couple of molded plastic pieces pressed together. I didn't look closely but it seemed to me like the spring action was just provided by the plastic, not a spring. I could be wrong about that. So, just look at the picture and you'll basically see two pieces of plastic with an F coaxial connecter pushed though the center. That is exactly what you get.The other thing to note about this is that the F connector doesn't push through the backside very far so your hole needs to be big enough for you to screw down your coaxial cable THROUGH the hole (just connect it before you screw it to your wall).... if that makes sense. It would have been nice if the F connector was longer so you could just put a nut over the inside connector and maybe a washer to hold it to your wall. At first, I thought I might be able to do that, but it didn't leave enough of the F connector pushing through to fully seat the coaxial cable on the inside. I had to enlarge my hole larger than the threads on the F connector to provide room for the cable to screw down.

This unit is only 2"x2" by 0.50" thick. I expected at least 3"x3" but still worked out ok. It did come with 2 screws that matched the color of the unit.

The device arrived on time and as advertised. I installed it on the outside of our RV, as the original factory unit was not working properly, and I wanted the cable to enter in a different place. It was easy to install and it works great. The connections are tight and there is no signal loss through the device. I would buy again. I have purchased many JR products over the years and they have a good history of providing high quality products at a fair price.

Not installed yet... It's a female-female RF through-connector, mounted in a plastic frame.Bought this for my RV. The plastic spring which holds the door open/closed is not tight when the door is down, and dust can potentially blow under/through the small opening/spaces. (I'm never surprised where I find dust after hauling the trailer. And this wouldn't be a problem if I wasn't moving it.) Going to try filling in the hollow space inside the lid with a piece of some soft foam, thick enough to just compress slightly when closed..(between the inner ring and the outer lip - will be a rectangle with a circle cut out of the middle - see the pic) ) May not matter... maybe it ~will~ work well enough as-is.But I did expect it to be a better seal over the connector.

I got two of these to mount to the outside of my 5th wheel, to replace the flat cables I had going in under the windows. So far so good. I caulked all around it and haven't seen any water damage. It's not high-end quality, but it's low-profile, not bad looking, and works. The hinge is very stiff, but I'll only use it a couple times a year, so hope that won't be a problem.

Does what I expected it to do

Works great. Just wish it came in different colours as I was wanting a brown one as I was putting it on my travel trailer.
