A useful compilation of Berman's recordings for DGG.The box listing seems ignorant of the Prokofiev Sonatas 2&8 which are some of the best performances here.Personally I find the Tchaikowsky rather underpowered and unexciting, but other recordings of this piece with Karajan at the helm seem to do the same-Kissin and Richter suffer likewise....The piano sound does vary considerably with some of the solo items, especially the Rachmaninov Moments Musicaux, curiously lacking in bass. Sony have issued a compilation of his RCA/Columbia recordings that seems only available in Japan,so this DGG box is your only choice for recordings made after he made his way out of the USSR.To sum up a good buy with the caveats mentioned above.
