Mean Greek hero, spineless doormat, rinse, repeat but it is Lynne Graham so...
Well, what can I about a book that has 'Greek", "tycoon", "Convenient", and "Mistress". You get what you asked for. Hope aka the Harlequin doormat is in love with alpha Andreas who has as much confidence in Hope's ability to survive as he would a toddler. The kind of heroine who defines TSTL and doormat, Hope finally figures out that Andreas will never love her.Lies abound with the H's horrible sister, and Andreas becomes abusive. There should be a study on why we read about abusive heroes like this. Andreas says some cruel, offensive, hateful (I could go on) stuff that should not be allowed by law. The h licks her wounds and floats out of his life. Hope stands up to him a teensy bit, but, come on, Lynne Graham, you know what we want. WE WANT THE HERO TO GROVEL!!!! We want pain so bad he's in intensive care crying like the big baby bully he must be. Sadly that does not happen as once again we have a pathetic doormat with the spine of a worm. None.Yet, still, somehow - someway I gave it three stars which is why I will remain anonymous. Heh heh

unexpected
I took it on a whim. I expected just in looking at the title and some review, to effectively see the heroine being insulted and walked over without even a hint of a fight back. The heroine is being insulted during two fights with the hero, but in having read the heroine I can understand why she is still looking at the hero with pink glasses and care-bares hanging in the sky.First, Hope is really really really, really naive, but not just naive she is a generous person, with a view on life quite refreshing. She may seems for some idiot or not smart, but I feel her, in contrary very clever and smart. She just have been very taken for granted by her father and her brother, and a weak mother figure. The story of her giving all the inheritance money to her brother, at the beginning, because he is in big need of it, is staggering. I felt like she is just looking for the men in her life to accredit her, to consider her and to be loved. Also thus her hero-worshipping attachment to the hero, Andreas. And when I took her character in this side the story and the upfold of her character for me make sense and I do not see her like a doormat. In contrary she is starting to understand some things facing Andreas. But habits died hard and it is true that I would have wished for her to be a bit more acerbic toward the hero near the end.Because Andreas, is a work! Arrogant, a bit of a snob and showing some chauvinism. He is prompt to judge and condemn on a telling tales because he is a bit of a coward about his feeling about Hope. Which bring the story.I would have like, however, for this story to be more attractive and enjoyable. Stronger reactions from the heroine and for her to make the hero understand her point and her hurt, and for the hero to understand what he did and said and to grovel a bit more. It will have been more satisfactory for me.However I find it well written.A point which have been brought in the review is the pregnancy and the fact that Hope discover it lately. It was sticking, again, to the character.I feel it more like it could be see like pregnancy denial. But again it's just fictional characters. So I enjoy it

Pure LG!
Lynne Graham is usually an automatic buy for me but I hesitated after reading all the bad reviews. I'm glad I didn't listen to the naysayers. Hope was indeed a doormat and Andreas was LG's typical tall, dark, gorgeous, and rich alpha male...but this is Harlequin...what do you expect? That Andreas blithely drifted through their relationship with no thoughts to the future was not surprising. He rejected the notion of love and didn't acknowledge that he was faithful to Hope, missed her when he was away, and craved her touch. All those telltale signs were there. Hope never thought of herself as his mistress because he never called her that. She loved him and wanted to believe they had a future, and with her sheltered background she'd never dealt with a man like him. I liked reading Andreas' thoughts and seeing how he desperately justified his actions and feelings...anything but admit how he felt. I did have a bit of a problem with Hope being almost 6 months pregnant before she realized it. But again, this is a Harlequin romance, so it fit. Read the book for yourself and decide if the book was worthy of the price. I enjoyed it!

Standard story line.
Rich arrogant and a bully, mets doormat. Just because you are kind and see everything,"as a cup half full", does it also mean you have to be a punch bag?
