Fabulous Product During a Time of Need
First of all, this product is designed for patients undergoing eye surgery. Which can be a very stressful time. This is a life saver. OMG. It comes pre-assembled and is easy to use. You can attach it to your desk/table for reading, listening and relaxing and it reverses for easy attachment to your bed. The construction is very sturdy. When I initially order the product, an incorrect stand was sent. I immediately got on the phone with Amazon and they connected me with the company (for a three-way), who promised to deliver the correct product within two days-which they did. They were fabulous in resolving the mix up. I have nothing but praise for Amazon and the makers/distributors of this fine recovery aide. Five stars and Highly Recommended.

No video instruction and I cut one of my fingers.
I'm not happy that the company doesn't have a video online. You have to figure it out on your own.Notice that I marked 3 different colored controls.Yellow controls the height of the face pad.Red controls the angle of the face pad.Green controls the angle of the main plate. Note that at this time we are not using the breast foam piece,Important - I cut one of my fingers using one of the red adjustments. Try to keep your finger away from the closing area.We are just in the testing phase so hopefully we can get it adjusted so it's comfortable.

Perfect for post eye surgery
I bought this and another piece of equipment in preparation for vitrectomy surgery to repair a macular hole which required me to remain face down for 7 days post-op.I used this equipment while sitting at a table, the counter, and in the car. It made all the difference in my ability to remain face down during the required period, and provided great support for my neck and back.I highly recommend this item if you are in need of supportive equipment for a vitrectomy. It worked great!

A Barely Adequate Solution
As I was about to have my third vitrectomy we decided to buy the head down appliance instead of renting. It worked ok but the knurled screws that hold the head cushion at the proper level continually allowed the position to slip despite no matter how much torque was applied. This is the primary function of the appliance. We bought the package that included the mirror and fleece cover. The mirror was fine but the cover was so baggy that it obstructed the view through the head cushion. It got the job done but easily could have been much better.

Didn't work out
It's great in theory, but in reality it just never worked. I could never get it adjust to even a semblance of comfort for sitting and looking down. The instructions for sleeping with it are simply ludicrous and there's zero chance that was going to work. Also, you would think the designers would take into account that it's likely anyone using this would be of an age where they are using reading glasses or, due to the surgery, have some sort of eyewear. The set up of the cushion means there is no tolerance at all for a pair of glasses. So, if you're just going to sit there very uncomfortably and not be able to see anything, I guess this is fine. That was not what I had planned. I sent it back and sent 8 days with my head propped on the table using a gel cushion we already had at the house.

Really necessary during recovery
I used this during my recovery from vitrectomy. I also had the special chair and a bed unit, bit this one had the most comfortable face cradle. I advise everyone who has to undergo this surgery, with its onerous days of facedown position to have as many choices as you can afford, because the chair strains your legs, the bed unit strains your back, and this tabletop one provides relief from both the others. It's good to be able to change positions a few times a day (you can use your 10-minute breaks from facedown however you need to, and make the switch at the end of the break.

Received it broken
This item must have been tried and sent back many times as the screws to tighten the headrest were totally worn out and we couldn’t even set it up. I got it for my husbands macular hole surgery and I am glad I returned it as he didn’t need to keep his head down for that long anyway.

Works great
I bought this for an upcoming eye surgery. Worked very well maintaining a face down position comfortably. Also works well for getting neck and upper back massage. Definitely worth getting and the price was right.
