Engaging
It is a familiar romance story: beautiful orphan, evil uncle, forced engagement, and rescue by a sexy handsome man.Instead of Scotland or England, this one takes place in the Caribbean and the handsome man is a pirate.I am not a habitual reader of romance novels. The book was well written and edited, and there were enough twists to keep me entertained. The book does contain some explicit sex and physical cruelty, so if either of these offend or bother you, perhaps you should skip this book. It didn't bother me and I found it to be an enjoyable read.

Miss Innocence Hero?
Julie hates what her guardian does and stands for and so runs away. She's soft spoken, gentle, kind, everyone on the plantation lives her. Everyone but her guardian. When she leaves it's the start of a most marvelous adventure with twists and turns and good looking men, gorgeous hunks of men to drool over. Enough chuckles and smiles to keep you happy. Enjoy ! I had a hard time putting it down to go to bed.

Romance with Empathy & Strength
Sometimes a girl has to take what she can get. When Jolene’s cloaked midnight rescuer ends up being the sexiest Spanish captain this end of the Caribbean, she figures a long ocean voyage to freedom on his brigantine might not be the worst thing that could have happened to a proper Englishwoman. She caught committing a crime and needs a fast escape route. Captain Gabriel is not searching for love. He is looking for Span’s beloved national treasure. He has some explaining to do when he returns to his ship with a half-drowned woman instead of a gold nugget. His only intention is for Jolene’s safe passage to Europe. Living in close proximity causes Gabriel far more than planned. Thins get worse when her violent past catches up with them. – This is a good story about two people in need finding and rescuing each other. I liked most of the story but would have liked it more without the battles. Jolene and Gabriel are likeable characters. Their empathy is admirable, and their strength is commendable. I enjoyed the connection that Jolene had with the slaves and the young boy on Gabriel’s ship.

Though I loved this book ( actually read it all in one day,,just couldn't put it down ) I would have liked to have read how their lives turned out. Or better yet the young girl who had found the ring would have been a relative of Julie, a distant granddaughter, who had heard many stories about the pirate and the lady he loved so much he was willing to risk his life and how her actions had saved so many slaves in her time. this would have made this book, even though as I said a great read, an unforgettable read,,one you think about, dream about, and always brag about...

A jewel of a book
I enjoyed reading "Caribbean Jewel" . It was the first time I read from this author. And it had all the elements I like in an historical romance novel. Great story plot, suspense, and love scenes. If I could change anything though it would be it didn't have enough love scenes or enough details in those scenes for my taste but still enjoyable .And I rather have an epilogue that tells the immediate future happenings not generations later. But overall a good 4star rating, and had these other things been included I would given 5 stars. I will most likely try other books again from this author. Happy reading!

Great story
Pirates, sailors, damsel in distress, a villain....!!!! Truly great story. Loved that Gabriel was a gentleman and Jolie may of been naive but she had spunk and survival instincts. A fight for what is right and love, and some intimate endeavors that where panty melting - it enhanced the story and did not become the story. Love the epilogue....always wonder what the story is behind the beautiful items at the antique stores. It is fun to make up why they were made, were they given to someone with love, were they lost due to tragedy as well as think about your own mortality.Definitely should read this story!

Amazing Story
Amazing story! I loved it so much got so involved in the story that I read so quickly but times my anxiety of what was going to happen I just had put it down for a second to slow down. Just when I thought things were ok something would jump out that you didnt expect. I just love the characters but you really had to hate the Villians. Great Job Jayla This will be one of my favorite stories to keep.

I'd reread this so therefore that makes it a good book to me
Surprisingly good. The main girl was likeable and honourable. I like the slavery subplot and I liked the main man, he was kind and capable. Well written and I enjoyed it.

Excellent!
An adventure filled with passion and terror, vivid and fast paced. You're right there with Jolie all the way, feeling her passion, her fear and her bravery. The strong characters stay with you long after you finish reading. Stunning.

They were meant for each other
The writing is fast paced. The storylines have twists and turns that are unexpected but utterly believable. The novel turns out to be both a wonderful love story and a visit to the past.
