I want to use this on a 6x6 wood beam at the opening to my walk-in shower (floor to ceiling). No direct shower spray. Will this seal it?

Yes you may use it for this specific application. As suggested in a comment down bellow, you would want to make sure that it is fully cured before using the shower. Typically it would take 48 hours to cure but it may take longer depending on the environment.

does this work for the interior of a sauna , safe to sit on?

It dries to a hard, smooth finish, is non toxic and nice to look at. Would be safe to sit on...other types of recreation may require caution.
