This is our family's first Go Board purchase and this was the right choice. Sure the board is a bit on the pricey side but the upgraded stones make for a much better playing experience. Trust me on this, spend the extra on the pieces if you think you'll play often. I find players in our house "fiddle" with them before making the next move. I opened a new tab for every Go Board Yellow Mountain had to offer. This is the best combination besides perhaps the 2" board which I don't really think is needed. If you are wondering about the price differences, it's usually the pieces.The board arrive very well packed. I honestly don't know how these companies can afford the shipping costs, the box was massive. But inside, was a very well packaged and protected board. The board cover is a nice touch and I assume helps keep moisture away from the board that might otherwise warp it (we take the time to put the cover on after every time we play).There is a nice instruction booklet that comes with the set. This was more useful than I thought. Go is easy to learn but there are some unique situations you'll run into the which the little booklet often covers.I'd love to see this game take off. It's easy to learn and hard to master. I've heard this said before, but you really have to play to understand what people mean.We'll sometimes have speed games where we don't put too much thought into it and other times we'll have more well thought out games that sometimes take a couple of days to complete (due to busy schedules).Overall all a fantastic purchase and looks great on the table. We're a big board game family and I look forward to buying more boards from Yellow Mountain, they really set the standard.

Nice value for the money. Love the feel of the stones and also the feel of the board. With a little practice, you can make a very nice "thunk" with your index and middle fingers. The bowls are very nice too! This is as much an art piece as it is a game set. One small complaint, the protective felt cover for the board is so tight it is very difficult to get the board in and out of it. An extra couple of millimeters larger would have made for a much better board cover.

I am very pleased with my purchase; in fact so pleased I also purchased the 2 inch board with the melonite convex stones. The product is top quality; I absolutely love it. The board has raised lines and a weight that bespeaks quality. I also like the felt carrying case for the board; I use the 2 inch board at home and use the .8 inch board to take to friend’s homes to play. The extra board with the cool carrying cases for both the board and the stones is fantastic. I was also very impressed with the packaging used; they use a large box with lots of styrofoam and then placed it in an even larger box. The product arrived on time and in perfect condition. I would definitely purchase from Yellow Mountain Imports again; great service and follow up. If you are thinking about playing GO, you can’t go wrong with this set from Yellow Mountain. Personally I prefer the 2 inch board, it’s really heavy and is high quality. For the money and the quality the 2 inch board is the way to GO; pun intended. Either way you won’t be disappointed; if you’re on a budget get the . 8 inch board; it’s a high quality product. Just get the set and start playing GO.

I do love this set, however the zipper on the stones bag was broken off on arrival making it extremely difficult to get to the stones.

I am very impressed by the quality of this product. I am a beginner. I use a digital go app to learn. I first ordered a relatively cheap magnetic go for travel. Then I saw this high quality Go set and although I am not sure I will ever be a good enough player to do it justice, I thought it was more like a work of art! I love to look at it. A bit expensive of course. But I like the wooden board with its protective sleeve, the beautiful wooden bowls, the nice stones. The travel bag for bowls and stones is handy, although not really to my taste.

Item packed very sturdy during shipping. I like the case for the board to keep it safe during mobility. I don’t really care for the look/style of the carrying case for the bowls, but having a bag for them is still a plus. The straps for the bowls are great. I enjoy the weight and double-convex design of the stones themselves. I washed and oiled my black stones right away, and now they look even better. Five-stars for this set. I’m not disappointed.

The stones are high quality and make a satisfying sound when played. The case is very practical and the board itself is fine. I'll probably upgrade to an unlaquered high-end board eventually, but the stones should serve me well for as long as I'm playing.

So sorry I haven’t use cause my Go game has not started maybe after years of use I will have a formed opinion

Loved the quality of the board and glass stones. They were packed and delivered in a box safely and securely. I was impressed with how well this was done by the manufacturer.While this is a new game for my son to learn I look forward to him teaching me how to play too.

Juego de excelente calidad, muy bien acabado y con muchos detalles, me llegó antes de la fecha indicada. Seguramente compraré más productos de esta marca.

Je n'écris pas souvent de commentaire mais cet article en mérite un. C'est juste top, au delà de mes attentes. J'ai été surpris par la taille, le poids, la qualité de finition (aucun défaut dans les boiseries/pierres) et d'emballage, ... Un très beau jeu qui vaut son prix. Un petit reproche: Le jeu est livré avec une malette pour les bols et une housse pour le goban, la qualité est bonne mais le look n'est pas en harmonie. Ceci ne me pose pas de problème car je laisse le jeu apparent et ne compte pas le transporter. Je recommande vivement cet achat pour tout amateur de "beau" jeu de Go. Oui les pierres oscillent un peu quand on les pose, ce côté "vivant" ne me pose pas de problème, ça fait partie du "cérémonial"

Ich war überrascht als das Go-Spielbrett-Set angekommen war, es ist größer als ich erwartet habe. Das Ganze ist richtig schön eingepackt gekommen, man hat sich richtig Mühe gegeben damit das gute Stück nicht beschädigt ankommt. Das Brett hat richtig stolzes Gewicht, sehr gut verarbeitet, keine scharfen Kanten oder Kratzer. Die zwei Bambus Schalen gefallen mir am besten, für die hätte ich auch andere Verwendung gefunden außer Steine reinzulegen. Die Steine sind auch sehr schön, total glatt und gehen nicht kaputt beim Runterfallen. Das Einzige was mich stört, dass die Anleitung nicht auf Deutsch ist, wenn man die Spielregeln nicht kennt, hat es schwer, muss sich erst woanders informieren. Ein fantastisches, qualitatives Go-Spiel, in einwandfreiem Zustand, bin wirklich beeindruckt.
