Not for heavy duty crawling around on the ground...
The straps are a little short and the velcro doesn't hold real well if strapped too tightly, and the padding isn't very thick, 3/8ths'' which is okay for short term crawling around on the ground. If your upper leg is 17'', I would get the large. I got the medium which fits 17- 19'' and I could of used the large.I got them mainly so I could hand clean my kitchen floor, its laminate and I have cats and mopping it just doesn't get all the cat hair up, and for some light garden work. All in all, I gave them a 4. I don't know how sturdy they are or how long they'll last, but the price is right and I think they'll do the job for me.

Comfortable and light weight.
Pads are extremely comfortable and they stay in place. I would recommend these pads.

This is THE BOMB DIGGITY!
They arrived yesterday and today I wore them for the first time. I have (many different kinds) used rubberized foam kneeling pads for years while gardening and doing projects and such. Somehow I've worn out my left knee sooner than my right. MY human knee not the foam pad. And so while a regular foam pad for kneeling on is fine for my right knee my left will have excruciating pain that shoots down to my ankle whenever I put weight on it, even on the pad. And when I say excruciating I mean, holding my knee with both hands, rocking back and forth on my back in the dirt and the leaves and the muck, moaning and mewling until I freak my dog out. So, I went looking for a solution. I found these. I was understandably nervous to put my full weight down on my left knee to test the pad out for the first time (reference the moaning and mewling line) but after much discussion with my dog I went for it. And I am soooooo happy to report ZERO pain. Whatever nerve or tendon damage I've done to my poor knee, the gel pad thing in this totally cushions (and maybe helps distribute the weight evenly?) it 100% And of course, now that I'm not leaning to my RIGHT all the time my back feels better too. I am sooo VERY happy with this purchase. And since usually when I find something I love and use and where out - a couple years later when I need a knee what-have-you they've stopped making them. So I'm ordering a second pair right now to have if they ever don't make these any more. Oh, and toward that end, I thought while working in muddier areas I may still use a kneeling pad under these just to keep these from getting too dirty and worn out too soon. The care instructions say handwash cold water hang dry but I figure I can make them last longer the less muck I have to put them through.

Not made for skinny legs.
I have a petite build and thin legs (I always have trouble finding boots that fit and don't gape at the legs). I've owned Kneelon knee pads for the last few years, which is pretty good considering I'm the owner of a garden service company. My biggest problem with them is that the velcro straps stretched out and wouldn't meet the velcro on the pads anymore. I knotted them tighter but did so too well and that was TOO tight so they ended up in the garbage. Which brings me to Cate's Garden knee pads.I purchased these because Kneelons had gone up in price and these looked practically identical at a lower price point. I thought the straps fit well, with a lot of extra overhang (like my previous pair), but that's only true for this time of year. I wear flannel lined pants on warmer winter days, insulated overalls or coveralls on the colder days, and the knee pads fit over all that just fine. They will not, however, fit on my bare legs when it's time for shorts. I'm planning on sewing the straps smaller before spring so I can use them all year long, but that's an extra step I wish I didn't have to take with a new purchase. For all you thin-legged gardeners out there, just be aware that this is a hurdle you might have to tackle also. So far I haven't found any others that fit any better, so it is what it is.

Soft, Comfortable, Durable (only time will tell) Knee Pads
Nicely packaged and easy to open! First thing I noticed out of the package was that the material seemed soft yet heavy duty and durable. It gives me the impression that they might take some major abuse and last a little longer than some cheaper previous knee pads have.. Then, I strapped both knee pads on, which was really easy to do and fell to my knees to test them out. From that perspective they they seemed "soft" and very well padded and "fairly comfortable" (ie for knee pads). The knee pads have two velcro straps, one at the top and one at the bottom of the knee pad that holds the knee pad securely over your knee. I've had knee pads before (and admit it, so have you) that are not securely strapped and they easily fall from your knees to your shins. I don't need a shin pad thank you! LOL But these seemed to stay in place even as I crawled around and tested them on both a harder surface and the softer carpet around my house. When I stood up they stayed in place right over my knees exactly where I had strapped them. Impressive no?!So, they passed the first test. Only time will tell though how durable they are. I can't wait to try them out while scrubbing the floors or weeding the lawn outside around the house this summer. Er...on second thought, maybe I can wait! LOL Right now though. they seem like they will do the job!

Good for Handymen too
Im not the typical customer for this item. I am a handyman looking for comfortable knee pads to use indoors in clean furnished living spaces. I was looking for something that would not mar any surfaces that I need to kneel on. These work pretty well for that. The neoprene fits snug but flexes well too. Velcro straps are easy to adjust and flex as well. I think this is the best format for the main structure of a knee pad, but I only ever found one company making this type for more abusive environments such as construction. It was my favorite knee pad, then they stopped making it! I wish Cate's made a version for the "man of the house" that was a little tougher with a sturdy knee cap area, that I could use outdoors on hard surfaces. As far as this item goes, I think the pad could stand to be a little thicker. It's listed as 3/4" but it measures out to 5/8", and that's with the neoprene fabric covering it on both sides.

Received these Garden Knee Pads very quickly (always a good sign, I hate slow suppliers)
Received these Garden Knee Pads very quickly (always a good sign, I hate slow suppliers). I have to say these are very comfortable to wear. I've had a pair of stiff, thick knee pads for a while and they don't work that well for me. These Cate's garden knee pads are way softer and comfortable to wear. They are light, flexible and very soft - such a difference. I was concerned that there didn't appear to be much padding, but there is more than enough there to do the job of protecting the knees without it feeling as though I'm kneeling on a mound itself. The biggest problem I had with my old pads was that I was constantly adjusting them EVERY time I got up. Not with these. They do not slip down and you can move around freely without adjusting the position of a pad. These knee pads have two velcro straps as opposed to the one that other pads have, including my old ones. That helps a lot and I found I could get on with the jobs without constantly fiddling with positioning of the pads.I even tried them on when doing a bit of DIY in the kitchen, on a concrete floor. Probably not made for that, but it made the job so much more comfortable. They are finished to a high standard, and having the two straps makes them easily adjustable to fit most knee/leg sizes. Very nice.

Perfect solution, even for the elderly!
The media could not be loaded. I bought this for a 90 year old friend who loves gardening, and she absolutely loved it! She already had a kneeling board/stool which she always had to move along with her as she changed location whilst working, and that would sometimes get cumbersome. Trying on these knee pads gave her great cushioning and lots of freedom to move around naturally. She tried combining use of the knee pads and the kneeling stool (as can be seen in the video shot), and the extra cushioning was great for her. These would also be great for sailing - she loves sailing and still occasionally goes out in her little boat, and she often does a lot of kneeling down whilst at it.The only downside is that they're made of neoprene and would therefore need to be hand-washed, but being black-coloured they shouldn't need washing that often. Also the material should be quite durable with suitable handling.I can't recommend these enough to anyone out there of any age looking for a similar solution. They are easy to strap on, give great cushioning when kneeling, lightweight to move around in, fit perfectly around the knees (no chaffing), and like my friend, you might even forget to take them off afterwards - they're that comfy!

Speedy delivery! Super comfortable! Highly recommended!
The media could not be loaded. Speedy delivery! Super comfortable! Highly recommended!I ordered the product at midday, next day I received it and today the weather was perfect for going in the garden to plant my tulip bulbs (all in three days!) Planting bulbs this time was so much fun...no hustle of getting up, picking the foam mat, kneeling and repositioning it again and kneeling on it to plant one bulb and then repeat the process over and over again - I think anyone could agree that this could become a tedious task even though you love your tulips so much !I am so pleased with the knee pads I bought that I decided to make a little video to share my excitement! The knee pads look well made, the velcro straps are wide enough and strong so when you adjust it to fit your knee, it feels firm but comfortable around the back area. Throughout the planting, I didn't have to re-adjust the straps at all and after the second bulb I became accustomed to them but most importantly, they were sooo comfortable!!! that I was able to focus in the task of planting itself and finished it...feeling very satisfied!I highly recommend this product.

Saviour of my knees
I ordered these Garden knee pads on the advice of a friend and they have been such a revelation. I suffer from painful knees so I have been avoiding doing any gardening jobs that involve kneeling down as this aggravates the pain. Wearing the pads puts a protective ultra comfortable cushion between the ground and my knees and I can now get on with it without the pain! They are very well constructed and seem durable enough for a long life. They are adjustable to fit a wide range of knees and are secured in place using Velcro pads.I am now fearless in my gardening pursuits and look forward to tackling anything now.

Extremely Comfortable and Supportive, save your knees and buy a pair of these!
I bought these knee pads for myself as i am always pottering in the garden, they are extremely soft and give alot of support to the knees when kneeling down, inf act i have ended using them for all sorts of DIY tasks around the house, unlike the kneeling pads you can just leave them on while walking around. They have been finished to a high standard, and easily adjustable with velcro straps to fit any leg size. I am extremely pleased with my purchase, you can see from the photos how comfy they are.
