GS305

I consider Netgear equipment to be the gold standard of Network Switches. These are going to replace my current ones, which are almost 20 years old but still working. I've upgraded as I've now got full fibre Broadband at home.

I have a room where I have an ethernet wall socket and devices that connect to it, but I have more devices than ethernet ports to connect to. This network switch let me expand the amount of ethernet ports available to me in that room without much hassle. It was a simple, plug and play set up. Simply plug in the ethernet coming from the router to the switch in port 1 and port 2 to 5 can be used to plug in my devices. The network switch is cheap, quiet, and fits neatly behind a cabinet.

great item and easy to use

This metal cased 5 port gigabit network switch appears to be built to the same high standard as other Netgear products. It has a separate "wall wart" type power unit. Just plug it in, attach network cables and let the switch do the rest. Because this is an unmanaged switch there is nothing to configure. My only slight complaint is that, unlike some of the earlier Netgear ethernet switches with two LEDs per port, this switch has only one LED per port. This means that there is no way to check the speed of each link. Depending on your application, this may not matter.

Easy installation plug and play, enabled me to use home cctv hub to be plugged straight in along with several other items that require hardwired connections to the router. Small size allows it to be hidden away, metal case allows heat dissipation.. not that it gets warm. Idea expansion for Ethernet with no messing about programming

Quality switch, works well as expected, that said I have used TP Link and Zyxel and they all performed that same.

Despite that I bought this item via amazon.SE inside EU, it came with incompatible AC plug(I guess UK variant). Therefore I cannot use it. I think that it violates the Low Voltage Directive or alike.

Works great!just plug everything in and it's ready to go no software needed.
