Bamboo Shrimp are a truly fascinating species due to their lively personalities and their ability to quickly change color based on their mood and/or environment. Colors we see most often are an earthy tan and cerulean blue. These are one of the largest freshwater shrimp, ranging in size from 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 inches. Singapore Flower Shrimp are peaceful and will get along great with any other critters in your aquarium, as long as the others aren't aggressive towards them. Like dwarf shrimp, they eat algae and leftover fish food (as well as invertebrate food pellets.) RECOMMENDED TANK PARAMETERS: - pH level range: 6.5 - 8.0 - Temperature range: 68° - 85° F - Recommended Aquatic Arts tank mates: Any type of dwarf shrimp (such as Green Babaulti shrimp, Blue Velvet shrimp, Sakura Fire Red Cherry Shrimp, Neon Yellow Shrimp, etc.), various types of snails (such as Nerite Snails, Sulawesi Snails, etc.). They can also be kept with small to medium-sized, non-aggressive fish. - Additional notes: Care is similar to dwarf shrimp. Shrimp prefer to live in tanks with live aquatic plants (such as java moss, willow hygro, green cabomba, etc.). This is because the shrimp like the cover that plants provide, they love to graze on the plants for algae, and the plants help keep the water clean for them.

partly because of the wonderful reviews I saw
I purchased several items from Aquatic Arts, partly because of the wonderful reviews I saw. They deserve every good review! They clearly care a great deal about what they do. Everything I received was healthy and happy, packaged carefully in easily recyclable packaging. The moss, plants, and shrimp I purchased were healthy and happy and after a gentle introduction into their new tank, were active and happy. My goldfish responded almost immediately to the better, healthier tank - very spunky and happy, eating the algie wafers and enjoying the fresh moss. My snails also found the algie wafers almost immediately. The shrimp both acclimated very easily into their new tank. I am very excited about my purchases, and will happily purchase from Aquatic Arts again :-)

Very Happy Additions to our Tank
Arrived a week or two later than expected, but they arrived healthy, happy & safely to NW Ohio.Kind of bland in coloring when they first arrived, but after a month the colors are now a beautiful, rich brown with a bright yellowish-tan stripe on their top from head-to-tail. They like hiding under the flat rocks I have stacked on top of my Madagascar drift wood root that still refuses to sink. They do need a high current and lots of room in the tank as others have mentioned. Mine is a 39-gallon bowfront with a cannister filter & power filter. Most of the fish are docile, a pleco, cory, various tetras, long-finned danios, siamese flying foxes, several varieties of loaches, a few otocinclus & some nerite snails. The tank also has three voracious silver dollars that eat everything. They ate all of the live plants & my large algae eating shrimp (or they got the heck out of the tank as fast as they could) I witnessed neither, so can only guess. The flower shrimp were large enough - both around 2" - one larger & one smaller, yet still big enough for the silver dollars to leave them alone. The gist - make sure you have plenty of hiding places and a good current flow near them & they will be happy & prosper!I have attached a photo of their tankmates, but the shrimp were camera shy.

These shrimp like to filter feed in strong current Once they find a good spot in the current they like to stay there. One of my two has been in one place for a least a day simply filter feeding. the other has spent about half its time in the plants feeding on hair algae Yes, I have a algae problem at the moment). I has also feed off of algae on the gravel at the bottom of the tank. I have note seen them change color yet. They have not bothered my black neon tetras or nerite snails. The shrimp arrived a few days after i ordered them. The box was well insulated with shredded paper insulation. the insulation is a little messy but it is biodegradable. Each shrimp was in its own bag with more moss then I expected. both molted after about 48 hours after arrival.

Nice
Coloring is not like in the picture. Not as brown.I got these in january and one is missing and they are very and i repeat very good at hiding. I have lost one because i think he hopped out by climbing out on a rogue plant to be eaten by the cat. My remaining one is fairly large (about a inch and a half or two inches) and gets along great with my dwarf neon rainbow fish which are fairly territorial but he is an awesome little guy and will climb all around in the plants where they hang out. If you are thinking about getting this shrimp make sure you have a strong current in your tank so he can use his little fans on his pinchers to get his food. If you see yours sifting in the sand or gravel he isnt getting enough food. Every once in a while drop in an algae pellet to make sure your shrimp is getting what he needs.

Love these little dudes.
I love these little guys, they arrived on time, about an inch in length. They acclimated well and went straight to feeding. Sadly, one of the two died in a molt about a week after he arrived. The other one is going strong, although he tends to hide quite a bit. They don't really look like the picture, but look more of a semi-transparent white color with very thin striations of color down their backs. I expect this color will develop with age, since they are clearly still very young. Their little hands are just adorable though, watching them eating is quite a treat. The are super quick, and can dart at least twice as fast as my cherry shrimp, so be careful when moving them! It's really a shame that they don't procreate in a home tank, because the babies must be so cool looking.

Escape artists!
Arrived quickly, and the shrimp were much larger than I was expecting (They were 2 - 2 1/2 inches long). After having them only a few days, one escaped the tank and met his doom with our 3 cats. The other one also tried to escape, but luckily landed in my pitcher that I use for water changes and was replaced into the tank before the cats found it. I have to wrap the hole for the filter at night with a hand towel now.Edit: By now the remaining shrimp has become comfortable and hasn't tried to escape as of late.

A fool and their $ were parted
Bought 2 bamboo shrimp and it's been less that 24 hours and one is dead. My aquarium is established and everything else fish, cherry shrimp, mystery snails are thriving. I just don't think these are hearty even with the drip acclimation this guy just didn't make it. We shall see if the second one lives longer. I won't waste anymore money on these, I knew better than to pay this much when they don't even have a pet store guarantee program LFS give you a couple days to a week if they die. I wasn't expecting it to live years but days would have been nice.

They lasted about a year or maybe a little more very healthy very nice when I got them even though it was the winter time but they were very beautiful they were very nice there you'll be very curious on the way they eat especially when you clean the tank and you're siphoning from the bottom that you bring everything up they really like that perfect maybe somebody else can have them longer recommended
