Da Vinci Code Mini Cryptex Lock Anniversary Valentine's Day Romantic Birthday Gifts for Her (Brass)

Have two of these and I keep using them in our escape room games I set up for the kids at church.

This cryptex was much better than I expected. It looks to be well made and has a good feel and weight. I bought one and liked it so much I bought one for my granddaughter. She is going to love it.

Well made, looks expensive, heavy metal with nice quality and color.I bought this for my adult son who loves anything like this “code/puzzle” container. I plan to put cash inside for Christmas.

This product exceeded my expectation. I had seen reviews indicating problems with the smoothness of the spinning dials so I was pleasantly surprised when I found that the dials on mine moved relatively easily. It's not perfectly smooth but in no way detracts from the overall product.The detail and design on the exterior surfaces is very cool and it looks as good as the photos show. It's also quite solid and weighty as it is entirely metal (as far as I can tell). It doesn't feel cheap.It comes with a preset code which worked and revealed two "Lord of the Rings" style rings, one in gold one in silver. My ring size is 7.5 and the gold ring was too small by far. The silver ring was even smaller. But I didn't buy this product for the rings so that wasn't an issue for me.It was packaged very well and came with a nice card (for you to give to someone) as well as a screwdriver, 2 small screws and some super glue so you can change the access code if you want. Instructions on how to do that were included. It also includes a chain that you can use to hang your rings on, I guess.Overall, this was a good product and will meet my needs very well.

I bought this for a home escape room and it is very well made, heavy enough, and when you remove the foam and rings, there is quite a bit of room for a clue or even a key that isn't too large. I changed the code the same day I bought it and it was very easy to do. I took all the rings off and changed each letter and tested it with the tube each time. I had it done within 20 minutes. The rings move very easily on mine, I heard from some that using WD-40 helps with those that may not turn as easily. I would happily recommend this to anyone.Instructions to change the code are not included with the device, but I found these online and it worked perfectly.Use the screw driver to unscrew out the screws on the Cryptex and take out the collar. Firstly aligning the grooves on the ring to the slots on the Cryptex, and then aligning your password of the cipher letter to the slots, secondly, tightening the screws, finally your password has been modified successfully.

This is a zinc casting that is brass plated, or some sort of plating, but underneath it is zinc. The reason why the letters are sometimes difficult to turn is the housing has high spots where the casting has a seam, there are several spots and if you smooth it off with a file, in the areas where the wheels revolve, that will free it up. No need to lube, this gets to the root of the problem, a casting that is a bit rough at a seam. Very common in castings whether it is in ceramic or metal. It is in areas where it doesn't show, that is where the high spots are. If you are mechanical you will see it. Changing the code was easy, just look down the barrel where you see the slot and figure out how to align the notches to make a groove. Mine came in coded as ILOVDU and I got it to open and that goes to show you nobody's perfect.

I am really pleased at this item. It is a great quality, sturdy, really pretty, the mechanism works like butter, and for the item, it is really affordable! Great way for me to gift a jewelry item my daughter has been wanting for years. It also helps that she is a Dan Brown / Da Vinci Code fanatic. Can't wait!
