Rocking Wilburys
Oddly enough I didn't know much about this short-lived band. It was when I saw them perform recently on a late night programme that my ears pricked up. Some of the numbers were new arrangements of Roy Orbison's work, performed not that long before Roy died. With him are George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan amongst others (you won't get much help from the 'sleeve', they were given the name Wilbury and other aliases) that I can name from memory. The tracks here are good, old-fashioned, solid rock or rock ballad performed with enthusiasm.

It's a 7/10 for Me
This is a very pleasant album to listen to. It sounds very country / rockabilly and is very well produced. Is it outstanding or exceptional – no not in my humble opinion? I liked it but certainly would not go overboard about it. It suits Dylan’s voice particularly well and his vocals are my favourite tracks. This is probably 7/10 for me.

Ramble On....
Individually, the Wilbury's are a talent to be reckoned with. This album lets everyone get on at the front and has all the musicianship you would rightly expect. I enjoyed it for the commercialism and freshness it brought to the scene when it was released. This replaces my worn out copy and takes it's place in the cabinet of "most enjoyed". I was one of the naysayers - i didn't like Bob Dylan, I wasn't keen on Harrison, ELO weren't my bag, Petty was good but Orbison was who my Mum listened too. This album peaked my interest and made me explore my "dislikes" to discover that actually, I liked - all of them. Individually and together as here.A classic album by 5 legends.

Expectation - well exceeded!!
The missus asked me for what I wanted for a stocking filler or two for Xmas - I had seen a couple of reviews of the TWs and thought ....well they arrived and she is out with the girls and as every bad boy does......a glass or two of the wine and an illicit hearing; listened to it twice now. Jeeeeez this is every maestro from the 70s and 80s condensed into at studio session full of fun and total musical joy. Just buy it... I have album three to listen to but she might be back any second. My opinion? For the money buy the lot! Even for the younger 'uns it is a master class in how to construct a song, create bridges, produce and have a real good time. The result is just fab!!! These albums will be in the car for ages (when she isn't in it!!) Enjoy.

A happy sound
From the sleeve you would never know the names of the people in this group. Lets start with the founder GEORGE HARRISON and on the videos I have of the group he blossomed - TOM PETTY [Heartbreakers]- JEFF LYNNE [ELO] - ROY ORBISON and BOB DYLAN what a line up of stars. The music has an American country feel and they all take turns of vocal and backing group. No one person is the star. Love it.
