Invicta Men's 5053 Pro Diver Collection Automatic Watch

I couldn't be more pleased with the Invicta Pro Diver model 9094. Mine shipped with no blemishes or imperfections. The watch came in the official yellow Invicta box with the yellow plastic Invicta name tag wrapped around the bracelet. The watch face, back, and band were covered in protective film. For the last 10 years I have been wearing an Invicta Pro Diver model 9937. I loved the 9937 but moisture got inside and fogged the crystal about a month ago. I tried a couple things like drying it with a hair dryer and even removing the back and reapplying silicone grease to the gasket, but no luck. I planned to buy another 9937. I wanted to stick with a stainless band automatic dive watch with a see-through back case. The 9937 is the same price it was 10 years ago and is a great value at less than $250 for a Swiss SW200-1 movement. The current 9937 is essentially the same as the one I bought in 2013, but with one change: The "SWISS MVMT" marking at the bottom of the face is no longer there. :( The 9937 still has the "SWISS MOVEMENT" marking engraved on the case back, but the marking removed from the face is a disappointment to me. It's a minor detail, but I know it would bug me every time I looked at the watch. While I was deciding whether to buy a new 9937 anyway, my daughter got a Tissot Seastar 1000 36mm. The Tissot is a Swiss made dive watch with a similar style to the Invicta Pro Diver. It's hundreds of dollars more than the Invicta Pro Diver watches and is very high quality, though it has a quartz movement. Her Tissot has a blue face and bezel and is very attractive and I liked the look. I wasn't sure if I would tire of the blue face and bezel over time but decided to give the Invicta 9094 a try since it was only $72. Wow, I am impressed! In direct sunlight, the face has an iridescent deep blue shimmer that changes depending on the viewing angle. The bezel is a slightly lighter shade of blue in the sunlight. Out of direct sunlight, the color difference between the face and bezel is more noticeable, with the face being a dark blue and the bezel a light blue. Looks great either way, but if you want to show it off, it's amazing in direct sunlight. The blue is a bit "blingy" compared to the black watch I replaced but I love it so far. Appearance-wise, the 9094 is almost identical to my 9937. Same size, face, hands, and markings. The bracelets are both solid-link oyster-style with brushed outer finish and shiny center finish, but the 9937 has thicker links - 4mm vs. 3.5mm. I weighed both watches and the 9937 is 145 grams compared to 139 for the 9094. I assume most of that is due to the heftier band on the 9937. The 9094 feels just as substantial as the 9937 on my wrist. I was skeptical going from the Swiss SW200-1 movement to the Japanese Seiko NH35A movement. Out of the box, my 9937 was slow by about 12 sec/day. It stayed like that for a few months. I unscrewed the back and adjusted it and got it to about 6 sec/day slow. In comparison, the 9094 has been running about 3.5 sec/day fast out of the box. I'm shocked it's that good. It took 17 days before it was 1 minute fast. At $72, this was more a temporary experiment (to see if I liked the blue face/bezel as opposed to black) than a permanent replacement for the 9937, but for now I'm in no rush to get anything else. The 9937 did have that "Flame Fusion" crystal which remained scratch-free for 10 years despite being somewhat of a beater watch. Time will tell if the mineral crystal on the 9094 will remain scratch-free as well. Bottom line, I don't know how Invicta can make such a quality automatic watch at this price.

I picked this watch up with a gift card for my birthday. I have been looking to pick up a watch that was of higher quality and would have more "bling" value than a basic $30 model - but wouldn't set me back several hundred dollars either. I picked it up for under $100 and it seemed to be a great way to enter the "nicer watch" world without investing my whole "fun-money" bankroll. I have only had it a week, but here are my thoughts so far: - the watch looks great. The band is shiny but not reflective (not chrome looking) and the face and bezel are a deep blue. The blue changes in different lights. I wasn't looking for a specific shade, so this is actually an added value for me. It just a good looking watch. - The clasp is tight and works well. I work at a computer a lot and wore my watch one day and the clasp scuffed simply from resting on my lap top - so I would say it marks easily, but that is least visible part of the watch. - The links were fairly easy to remove to size to my wrist. Being a newbie to this, I spent the first half-hour trying to get the pin out the wrong way. I read several things online about how to remove links, and none of them mentioned that I should look on the bottom of the watch band for arrows - which point the direction that the pin should be removed! Once I figured that out, I had the band apart and back together in 10 minutes using a sewing needle and a light hammer. - This is my first foray into automatic watches. I wound it ten turns when I set the time and date and haven't had a problem since. I wear it part of almost every day, so I don't know how long the "automatic" wind lasts and I can't say that I am interested in buying an automatic watch winder (the decent ones are as much as my watch itself cost!). I haven't measured the time loss, but have read elsewhere that I can expect a couple seconds a month. I am far from worried about that. - The watch arrived in a bright yellow feux-leather gift box. Obviously designed to look fancy - and it would make the packaging more impressive as a gift. It was a gift to myself, but I still appreciated that they took the trouble to think about making sure it has a quality delivery. - The warranty card seems to be only for an option to purchase an extended warranty. I couldn't tell that there was any way to register for a warranty, so I will have to look into that further. There is also an automatic fee to send your watch in for repairs - which seems not-so-legit if the problems are related to orignial build quality and not user damage. At this point, I love this watch. It is good looking. It has a good feel on my wrist. It has heft and size, but it isn't huge or uncomfortable. I will update this if my opinion changes or I learn anything new. ---- Follow up - about 6 months since purchase. You do have to wear this watch pretty much daily for it to keep accurate time. That was my intent, so no problem there. I have had it in the ocean and have worn it daily. I still love it. The crystal has been great - totally scratch resistant... as well as the bezel. That was a concern since it is colored blue - it looks as good as new, other than the scratches on the band where i have banged it around a little. It has actually started keeping more accurate time the longer I've worn it - only losing about a minute every month. ----- 2 years in - still love this watch and wear it almost daily. It will still keep its time if you skip a day of wearing it, but somewhere between one and two days of just sitting it will stop running. This is no complaint, just an observation. This has been consistent for the last two years. The time, surprisingly, has become more accurate. I don't know how that works, but I seldom have to adjust the minute hand anymore. I do not baby this watch - I wear it mountain biking, swimming, and for every day activities. It still looks great and the crystal is still scratch free.

I had been looking at Invicta watches for many months before I purchased the 9094. I decided to get this model because of the great price and the overall look of the watch (plus I wanted a water proof watch). When I received the watch I was stunned at how beautiful it really is. This is really a great looking watch and looks like watches that sell for thousands of dollars. The dial is actually a cobalt blue color and the hour markers look like little pearls. The mechanical quality of the watch is also better than I had expected. A lot of reviews for this watch say that it does not keep time well or that it quit working after receiving it. This has not been my experience, The watch so far has worked perfectly and I have only had to reset the time twice in the last 4 months (once because I did not wear it for a couple of days and since it is an automatic watch it stopped) I would say that this watch only loses about 10 seconds a month which is not bad at all for a watch is this price range. The water resistance is also good as I have gone swimming with this watch many times and also wore it in the ocean on snorkling trips. So far the watch has been water tight. The only two negatives I have regarding this watch is that the bezel only rotates counter clockwise (the info on the watch says it is uni-directional) and it can be difficult to turn the bezel with wet hands. The other negative is that the when you have to adjust the time the screw down crown can be a bit of a pain to get it to seat properly. All in all this is a great watch in both looks and performance and I would defineatly reccomend this to anyone looking for a great deal on a great watch.

This relatively tame approach from INVICTA is exactly what they need to do more of. I am super impressed with the quality of the watch for the money. The automatic movement works flawlessly, it's hefty but not too much so, and the simple blue and chrome look is classic. I found that taking two links from the band was perfect for sizing the watch to my wrist. Once adjusted it didn't pull on any of the tiny hairs on my wrist, which is more than I can say for watch brands costing 3-4 times more money. With more expensive watches I have opted to replace the band, but I feel comfortable sticking with the original on the INVICTA. There is a decent amount of illuminated paint on the hands so I can see the time in a pitch black room, and I like the magnifier on the date although it's not necessary. The steel body does seem to have a few sharp-ish edges but none come into contact with my skin while wearing it. I am sure at this price the face is mineral crystal but not sapphire. For now it seems quite durable and tough. I'll be replacing my daily Citizen with this for a while, to see how it weathers my more hands-on hobbies. I may be replacing the face with sapphire if it gets scratched. Overall, I am compelled to say this is the kind of watch INVICTA should be making. Most of what I've seen from them would be good for cosplaying, and not much else. It's super refreshing to see something attractive and practical from the brand, and I hope they will expand this into a line eventually. The value of this particular watch, with automatic movement, classic looks, and dive capability (for under $100?), makes them look more like a potential rival to Casio and Timex than a brand simply focused on kitchy fashion.

I bought this watch in November 2023 on a whim because it was a Prime Day special at a ridiculously low price. I didn’t need another watch. I have two Seiko 5 watches and an expensive Japan-made Seiko Sumo. I have worn this Invicta continuously since I bought it and am impressed with the value. It has a Japan movement. When I got it it ran ten to twelve seconds fast per 24 hours. I thought that to be perfectly acceptable for a mechanical watch in this price range. Just for fun I bought a degaussing tool for under ten dollars. When I used it on the watch it changed to five or six seconds fast. This is accuracy that one can expect from Swiss watches costing orders of magnitude more. Seiko movements, especially Japan-made ones, are incredible values. I now set the watch 20 or 25 seconds slow and reset it a week later when it is 20 or 25 seconds fast. This watch has a sapphire crystal, which even much more expensive Seikos lack. It has manual wind and hacking, and 200 Meter water resistance. It has a nicely magnified date window and a reasonably heavy band. I think one would be hard pressed to find another watch with these features and with this quality movement for eight or ten times the price I paid. My only criticism is that the lume is very feeble. It is difficult to impossible to read the time in the dark after a couple of hours. The Seiko 5 watches are better, but not much. The Seiko Sumo, a genuine dive watch, is worlds better, like the headlight of a car after many hours. This is perhaps an unfair comparison though, as the Seiko dive watch costs 15 times or more what this watch cost me. All in all, my opinion of this watch is that it is a high-quality watch at a bargain price.

I had been looking for a new budget friendly watch and was considering a couple different Fossil watches. I found the Invicta watches and settled on the 9094. It was cheaper than the Fossil watches and the quality seems much higher. It arrived in a nice box, and the watch was covered in protective plastic. I found no 'quality control' issues with the watch as others have had trouble with, the most common being the cyclops' position. The blue face is a very deep shade, which I really like because it is subtle. The bezel rotation is a little tight, but not enough to be aggravating. It feels very solid and appears to be well constructed. It has stopped running on me a couple of times, but only because I dont wear it daily or keep it on a winder. I find that if I give it a good wind every day it runs without stopping. I have accidently knocked the crystal against sharp metal surfaces a couple of times and it hasn't damaged the watch at all, which was rather surprising. I dont have any complaints about the watch per se, I just have two things that some people might take issue with. #1 is the limited glow of the indicators at night. They glow very bright for about 30-45 minutes, then fade almost completely. This isnt an issue for me, because I cant forsee needing to know what time it is when in pitch black surroundings. #2 is the clasp. The smaller part of the clasp on the watch is so tight that I have nearly lost a thumbnail trying to pry it open. This isnt much of an issue either because I just pry it open with the edge of a penny, paperclip, or my pocketknife. I'm sure once its been opened and closed a few times it will loosen up enough that I can use my thumbnail without fear of tearing it off. Neither of these issues should deter anyone from choosing this particular watch. I'm very pleased with the Invicta 9094 and feel that it was an excellent choice, especially for the price. I've had numerous compliments on it, and it has been mistaken for a Rolex on three separate occasions (which I'm sure was Invicta's intention). This is a great watch and I plan to purchase more Invicta products.

Update: 2 August 2013 First, wouldn't change or amend anything I wrote in my initial review. Second, having had this watch for ~2 months, I'm very pleased. I've been wearing it most every day (I wore a 'trasher watch' on a weekend or two) and have been tracking the accuracy against an atomic-clock on my iPhone. It appears to gain a little time, but only in the neighborhood of 3-5 seconds per day. From what I've read, that's very acceptable for a watch at this price point. ======= Initial caveat: I've only had this watch a few days. Some of the usual stuff ... the watch arrived quickly from time of purchase. Packaging is typical of Invicta: big and yellow. As others have pointed out, the size listed in the product specs are incorrect. The case diameter is 40mm, NOT 43mm. This is not a problem for me, and I actually preferred the smaller watch. The color is a deep/rich sapphire blue. Some have described it as purple. I don't think it's quite that dark. The bezel is a little stiff to turn, but does 'click' accurately when turned counterclockwise around the dial. The weight of the watch feels solid, but is not too heavy. The bracelet is a nice balance of shiny and brushed stainless steel. I think if it was all shiny, scratches would show up too much and it may look too 'cheap' ... all brushed, and may be a little too casual. I like the look and it complements the rest of the watch. (Speaking of the bracelet, I've had bracelet watches before, so thought I could simply adjust the bracelet myself -- as I have in the past -- with push-pins and such. No way! The pins connecting the links are really tight. I took the watch to a local jeweler and had it adjusted in a few minutes. *If* you want to adjust the bracelet yourself, I recommend purchasing a watchband link remover tool of some kind.) Setting the time was easy, simply unscrew the crown. The crown pops into position where you can wind the watch. Pull out one-click to set date and a second to set time. The watch I received has the Seiko NH35A 24-jewel movement. When you pull the crown to the second position (to set time) the second hand stops allowing you to "hack" the time. (So far, and this is just over the past few days, time has been accurate.) I'll update this review in the future with additional impressions, watch accuracy, etc.

A little history first: about 5 years ago I bought an Invicta 8926 to get started in the world of automatic watches. It lived up to the rave reviews I had read online and I was very pleased with its quality and performance. However, 5 years is about the shelf life for any automatic watch before an overhaul is necessary (it employs a mechanical engine after all). This costs anywhere from $150 to $200 and it's a procedure just as necessary to keep a Rolex running well as a Seiko or, well, an Invicta. Along with needing routine servicing my old Invicta had become pretty beat up from years of hard use--camping, hiking, rafting, swimming, and so on--and much as I like the watch I just couldn't justify spending two to three as mucch on repairs as I originally paid for the watch. So I decided to get a new Invicta but wanted something a little different than the classic Submariner look and thought I'd take a chance on this model. I've had it for a week and am very impressed. The scalloped bezel and markings on the bezel insert are derived from the design of Omega dive watches and so offer a variation on the Rolex theme. The 9094 is not exactly original but it is unique insofar as it combines features from several classic dive watch styles. Also, as far as I know, the gleaming, rather than brushed, center links of the bracelet are a feature unique to Invicta dive watches. I think it's a great touch. It also looks like Invicta has made some improvements over the years in terms of design. The crown guards are much less clunky than on my 8926 and it sounds like the rotor spins much more easily. The latter is just my impression. Also, the face of the 9094 picks up the light beautifully and, like other reviewers, I have to say that pictures simply don't do the watch justice. It's running very accurately, a bit fast perhaps but this is par for the course for mechanical watches and it should settle down in the next couple of months. I have one complaint: the bezel was pretty stiff out of the box but a couple of drops of Tri-Flow lubricant placed in the seam between the bezel and the body of the watch loosened it up nicely. All in all: I highly recommend this watch. At $70 and with free shipping it's an astonishing deal for a high quality timepiece.

Monday, March 11, 2024 I purchased this watch for two reasons: 1. The automatic movement and 2. The manufacturer. This watch uses the Seiko NH35A movement. The caliber is sometimes described simply as the NH35. They are one and the same. This is Seiko's 4R36 caliber rebranded for non-Seiko watch makers. Seiko Watch Co. and Seiko Instruments (SII) assemble this movement in both Japan and Malaysia. The Invicta 9094 watch has the following engraved on the caseback: 'Japanese movement assembled in Malaysia'. This movement has a 41-hour power reserve when fully wound, is hand-windable, and is a 24-jewel movement. This movement also comes with a hacking function which makes it very easy to set the time. A hacking function allows the second hand to come to a full stop when setting the time. This movement has a stated accuracy of -20/+40 seconds per day. The manufacturer of this watch, Invicta, uses this movement in many of its automatic watches. I've purchased Invicta quartz watches in the past and am pleased with the quality of these watches. The bezel is uni-directional and has a scalloped turning edge (not a coin edge common to many watches with a turning bezel). The magnifier over the date makes the date very easy to read and is slightly larger than the one found on Invicta quartz watches I've purchased in the past. I have not had the opportunity to test this watch for water resistance (I am NOT a diver). I'm very pleased with this purchase and am using this Invicta 9094 as my everyday watch.
