Fine book of Koans
I decided to read this book of Zen koans on my flight from Japan over to Korea. The annotations provide excellent guidance for understanding subtle differences observed in Korean Zen. I found the selected questions and answers to be mostly deep and enlightening, though for laity, some cases can take a while to firmly grasp the nature of Reality as it is discussed. I thought the autobiography was well written if not slightly self glorifying. Master DaeWon strikes me as someone who is clearly enlightened. He appears liberal in his actions and forward thinking when it comes to Zen practice and investment in the good of the material world. All of these qualities are clear in the text.

Transforms you
This book gives one question - one answer per page, but don't let it fool you, just one answer can keep you pondering upon it for a full day, sometimes even longer.Excellent to add to your zen or meditation practice. Read one everyday. See how it transforms you!

Not Helpful
This book might have some use for students of Korean hwadu, but if you are looking for information on Korean Son Buddhism, don't bother with this.

A must for those interested in Korean Zen or Seon
A collection of Hwadu, short stories or question to reflect upon while meditating. Those, sometimes irrational, questions are supposed to help overcame the rational thinking and reach enlightment. A Good base to practice Seon.
