BRANDIT Gladiator Vintage Premium Cargo Short

I have put on some weight since I last bought cargo shorts about 4 years ago. As a result, my waist has gone up from the 40-42 range to 42-44 range. To put this in context, I would tend towards a jeans waist of 42 but choose 44 for more comfy, smart trousers.All my old shorts were starting to feel too tight so I decided to buy some more but there seems to be a great deal of difference between various manufacturers as to what waist is 3XL, 4Xl or 5XL. I decided to start at the top and buy the 5XL. The description for this is 44 inch.When they arrived, I tried them on and they were a little 'baggy' (but nothing that wasn't solved with a belt) so I took them off and measured them. I am not an expert in these things but by my reckoning, the effective waist size is 44-45 inches. So, pretty much exactly as advertised.The shorts themselves seem to be well made and should last me a while. I have to say that although the belt that comes with the shorts 'looks the part', it doesn't work particularly well as it relies on friction. No matter how tight I made it, it would gradually come loose and the shorts would start to drop down. In the end I replaced it with a regular belt.Personally, I don't like tie cords on the legs and waist and never use them but I imagine that is a subjective thing. I also found that if I put things in the lower pockets, they tend to fall out if I don't do up the 'poppers'. This isn't a problem I had with my old shorts but I am willing to concede that it could be something to do with my shape rather than any fault of the shorts. Anyway, if you want something to stay in a pocket like this, it makes sense to use the poppers anyway. There is also one zippable pocket which is really only big enough for loose change or a credit card. You won't be able to fit a mobile phone in it without it sticking out.Overall though, I like them. As a result, I bought another pair but this time they were 4XL. I measured the effective waist size on these at 42-43 inches which again is as advertised.As usual, if I encounter any problems then I will update this review.

These are a great design, my only gripe is that I ordered the black and the white both in medium and they both have different fits and they are too baggy is the ass region, i think they need to be a lower cut, other than that, great for hanging out round the house and a great style, strong material, will be buy more except there is a huge difference in pricing and the availability of size/ colour is disappointing.

I was a little unsure about these as I have the Brandit shorts in beige, which for some reason don't really do it for me; but these are very nice, they fit perfectly and the length is spot on. The Swedish cammo is also very nice and a good move away from the standard Woodland cammo that I see everywhere.If you are wanting a good pair of shorts at a reasonable price then look no further, they even come with a nice sturdy belt as well!

Comfortable yet practical shorts, the storage space in the pockets is excellent with lots of room without looking too bulky. The material is sturdy and of good quality. And they look great too. Quite wrinkled when they arrived but a quick pass with an iron solved that right away

Length and fit was good and comfortable however after a 2 week holiday the thigh area has already worn and thinned a little, so I'm not sure how long they will last. The belt is also a bit rubbish in terms of actually being a working belt.

7xl The shorts while standard Brandit good quality were a different colour to the ones advertised , I was expecting stone white/grey I received a two tone magnolia/white combinationMy main concern was the fact the belt provided did not fit the shorts making it totally uselessI could live with the product I could contact the seller to arrange a belt to actually fit but I can not seem to find anyone to talk to so have no choice but to return product for a refund

Great shorts, nice baggy fit, lots of pockets, good quality lasts well. The only thing I don't like is the belt but I don't use it
