You get what you pay for...
The only pro about this is that you get a lot for a good price-- MP3 player (already fully charged), MP3 casing, headphones that work well, charger; and mine was sent to me quickly. But the instructions included tells you everything the MP3 player does or can do, but not how to get to it or how to change things. You have 5 buttons which multi-task, so it's a bit confusing. You have to just dive in, mess around with it, and figure things out on your ownAlso, this does not organize your music in alphabetical order. It does on your computer, but the mp3 player itself organizes it based on what was first to last synced. And it does not save your place. If your in the middle of a song, pause, turn off, it will go back to the start menu. Root menu does nothing but go back to the last song synced.Note on volume control: while listening to a song, hit the center/circular white button, then left or right. This changes the volume.July update: It's been a bit more than 6 months-- it started freezing, and now I can't get it to do anything. I sent shoetonic an email, but they say it happens sometimes, particularly if you use it a lot. A six month life expectancy? That's ridiculous!. I have an old Samsa mp3 player-- the battery dies quickly and it has glitches, like listing bands that I deleted. But it's been TEN YEARS and it still works! This is a cheap off-brand. You get what you pay for. If anything, save up your money, do some research on some of the name-brands out there, and buy yourself a good quality one that will last.

be prepared for a 30-pin connector
I sure wish I had looked more carefully before buying. The whole reason I bought this was to get out of apple ecosystem and get away from my old iPod with its 30 pin connector. I travel professionally and this is one more cable I didn't want to have to take with me on every trip (iPod got drained to empty on last flight). The first thing I saw out of the package was that this one has a 30 pin connector. UGH!! So now this is the ONLY device I have that uses that type of cable.UPDATE: I added back a star because the device does work. I found the sound quality to be good - no complaints there. It does seem to put all of the songs into one folder. That is not ideal but it is easy enough to scroll through them. Like with any device you will have a learning curve to learn how to manipulate the buttons. Also, I did have to go to my USB controller in windows device manager to get it to show up in my devices, as described in the Q&A session on Amazon. That isn't ideal either if the device is supposed to be easy to use by the non-technical people. So it's hard to give this more than 2 stars. The bright spot here for me is sound quality using decent headphones. I just loaded my entire mp3 collection on it so as long as it doesn't break, this will be ok as a backup device, although I am still kicking myself about the 30-pin connector. I hate having to keep cables around just for one device - I was SO looking forward to ditching the 30-pin old Apple-type cables.

Great Product
Great sound for such a little price. Looks like an apple but it isn't. I thought it would be hard to set up, but all I did was plug the usb cable into the player and then my pc and it started charging. After charging, all I did to load songs to the player was copy and paste into the mp3 file. Real easy. The only thing that really bugged me was the instructions are not very explicit. Doesn't tell you what buttons are for what. So I had to do it by trial and error. I already have about 3000 songs uploaded to my player, but the player only plays them in random order, not alphabetically.16 gb player should hold about 8,000 songs, so I have a lot more songs to upload. I would definitely recommend this for someone as a gift or for yourself.

Does what it's supposed to
This little gig gets the job done. It has held up pretty well even after I dropped it on the ground. its usb speed is phenomenal. 50 songs in less than 5 minutes. It can play all music files. from mp3,wav,mp4,wma, 3gp and so on. lyrics option crashed for my player and it started putting same lyrics over and over but i'm not mad because I don't really care about the lyrics. I just want to listen to music. and this is all you need whether your working out, sports, running or walking. the only thing I don't like is that the buttons are too loud but then that should drown out eventually. So if you want an ipod but don't care for details and don't wanna pay a load, this fills the purpose nicely.

at best, 1
LED is on when you play music, ALWAYS, so battery life is, at best, 1.5 hrs. And there is no option to adjust LED brightness either. Also, Buttons are clicky ones, NOT sliding/touch-sensed, and the clicky sounds are very loud. And the system is sorted by root-folders, not by artists or albums or anything. It's hard to navigate from one song to another quickly. Lastly, the screen doesn't show the name of the song that's playing! To be fair, though, it plays music nicely and has 16 GB storage. What can you ask more for $20? But I've just been spoiled by the convenience of Apple products and this mp3 player was completely out of my expectations.

Yup, I should have known it was going to be this bad...price was too good to be true.
Bottom line: Do not buy this. I thought I was going to be happy as it worked well for a couple of weeks and then I started to get file corruption errors when adding music. Titles/directories started to show up with Chinese characters and other random symbols. I had to flush/reload complete music library three times. Finally, disk became unreadable so I could not do any diagnostics from my laptop. This was my first MP3 player, so I learned a relatively cheap lesson. Hopefully, I can save you a few bucks...buy something from a place that has a warranty and a decently customer rated product. P.S. If you decide to buy anyway...Manual is almost worthless, but if I could figure it out, you can too.
