Great for Lifeguards and/or Coaches
The quality is great. It matches the description. The color is red and black just like in the picture. It is a loud whistle. I wouldn't purchase if you want a quiet whistle as it doesn't make much sound with a very light blow. It cuts through crowd noises and is easily heard with a regular blow. The lanyard is sturdy and adjustable as well. The rubber guard allows you to hold the whistle in your teeth easily and comfortably. Looks good and works well.

Still 'The best a ref can get!'
Loud sound, cool design, and lightweight. I've been reffing mostly youth sports for several years (20+ actually) and used to use an old-school, traditional whistle. Once my fellow ref told me about Fox40, I was stoked! Have only used a pea-less FOX40 ever since!Jim

Good Whistle
Coach and referee for over 30 years. Used many different whistles in the past (pea, pea less, electronic). Have been using Fox 40 classic for 15 years and love it. Decided to try the Epik since it was slightly cheaper than Classic. As expected, its one of the best whistle. Would have give 5 stars but not as good as Classic. Still better than all the other whistles on the market. Well worth the money but I prefer the Classic.

NO IDEA why all whistles aren't standardized on FOX40

Not the sound I was looking for
I jokingly call this the whisper whistle, cause it seriously sounds like that it’s not a clear crisp sound you’d expect but sounds like air is just exiting in a spot that doesn’t create much sound?There are other fox 40 whistles that my friends use and they are awesome, but these missed the mark for some reason. Maybe I missed the description saying something about that or these are duds. Either way, I’m pretty disappointed.

Disappointed
The rubber teeth guard is helpful, but the quality and amount of the sound is not loud enough for the normal amount of power used. I was expecting more for the price.
