I’d buy the MrCool 12k 240v again.
I bought this because of a suggestion from a builder I work with frequently. He knew I like to do things myself. After investigating I decided on the 12k 240 volt system. I installed indoor and outdoor unit. I attempted to make the connections but stopped when I started to remove the caps on the inside unit, it started hissing, which I wasn’t expecting. I have a HVAC guy I know personally and requested one of his guys visit to complete the installation. The technician mentioned the hissing was just nitrogen in the unit. He completed the typical servicing they would do on mini splits, pressure test and pulling vacuum. I’ve run the system for a month and have no complaints. It works great and it’s super quiet. The WiFi module paperwork wasn’t updated for this new model but I figured it out.

Defective Item - Precisely and Exactly Zero Customer Support
The manual is garbage; it doesn't match the actual unit. There is absolutely and precisely zero tech support. If you call the tech support number and wait on hold, you might actually speak with someone but that person only knows what Air Conditioners are but not how they work much less how their own products are set up and supposed to work. They may take your question and supposedly start a chat with someone that does know but that person apparently doesn't know either. The product shipped did not match anything from any manual; the only similarity was the name. The product also did not come with refrigerant installed despite the manual stating that is does so that is a hidden cost. According to the manual, the refrigerant is supposed to be on the high pressure side, behind a valve that isn't to be opened until the system has been evacuated/vacuumed. The manual assumes that the refrigerant is there and so doesn't provide the recommended amount of R410A that should be installed by default. I attached the page from the manual as well as a picture of the actual unit... The low pressure side is the larger of the two hoses so, while the manual got that wrong, a proper HVAC installer should know. Beware when contacting a HVAC tech because they will, like me, assume that this product is like pretty much every other mini-split sold, comes with accurate documentation and is well put-together but when they are onsite and it isn't any of those, be prepared to open your wallet. There are too many viable competitors making competent machines to put up with shoddy products like this. I have purchased mini splits from other brands and they work just fine. Save yourself the frustration and just get a different brand.

I didn’t realize my great price meant I got the non DYI version without charged lines.
The only difference is this version has uncharged open ended lines. The compressor unit has all the refrigerant you need. The indoor unit evaporator is pressurized with nitrogen an inert gas to keep the unit sealed and assure they hold pressure. You simply need to buy a gage and vacuum set (sold on Amazon for @ $125). Also a connector for the mini split size connection. It is very easy to do and lots of Youtubers to watch. Works fantastic!! set: XtremepowerUS 3CFM 1/4 HP Vacuum Pump HVAC R134a R12 R22 R410a A/C Refrigeration AC Manifold Gauge, Adapter: R410a Charging Vacuum Port Adapter Brass Converter with Thimble 5/16 Inch Female Quick Coupler to 1/4 Inch Male Flare for Mini Split System Air Conditioner HVAC Refrigeration Service (2 Packs)

Boom yeah!
Been doing HVAC for quite a few years now Buddy wanted something in his garage, gave him choice of "name brand" (costing 3x as much ) or "amazon special" he chose amazon special. I have done a few Pioneer Minisplit no issue, they where a month out to deiver, this was 1 week... Well happy we went with this . Super quiet! Flairs on the pre flaired fittings where all good and usable. About 5-6 hour install, Super quiet, as quiet as a name brand. I can not speak for wifi use as we did not set that up .

Sent non DIY kit
Did not come with DIY kit. This requires special HVAC tools to install properly.

Unreliable and Dangerous – A Costly Mistake
I deeply regret purchasing the Mr. Cool 12,000 BTU mini split unit. My husband installed this in our rabbit barn—a space well within the unit’s advertised capacity—and from the start, it was nothing but trouble. Over the short month and a half we had it, the unit was unreliable, inconsistent, and ultimately dangerous. Over the weekend, it completely failed without warning. As a result, we tragically lost five of our rabbits due to the heat. This is not just a matter of poor performance—it’s a heartbreaking and avoidable outcome. We had a HVAC professional inspect the unit and were told it was 100% out of Freon. For a brand-new unit marketed as DIY and barely a month old, this is completely unacceptable. I trusted the reviews and the hype around Mr. Cool, but buying this unit was a huge mistake. It was marketed as an easy, reliable solution, and it failed on every front—functionally and ethically. Buyer beware…

So cool!
Omg very nice! Easy to get installed and runs so quietly. I put it in my newly insulated garage and my garage is colder than my house now. It’s looks nice and simple on the wall.

Installation instructions are terrible.
Instructions where horrible. Ended up watching several how to videos online and figuring out how to install pretty much on our own. It was missing the QR code for the app in order to use your phone as a remote and use Elexa. Otherwise once we figured out how to install it it went fairly easy. There was some added wiring that had to be done and had to purchase two electrical whips and wire bundles to connect outdoor unit to the main breaker box. Also had to purchase a double pull 15 amp breaker and exterior kill switch to keep it up to code. Unit is extremely quiet and so far other than the app issue we are pleased. I recommend purchasing better tape to wrap all the wires, copper freon tubing and drain tube. The tape it comes with is not adhesive and makes it difficult to get a good clean right wrap on everything. I will try and remember to post an update on the performance later.
