The Grey Man - A Touch of “Realty”
What I enjoy about The Grey Ma series is the adventure, grit, and action written into the story. What I really like about the series is the reality of a lone wolf character who gets into jams and has to reach out for help because in life that is what we all have to do. He always takes action, forward moving action, but there are times when he must have help to move ahead. A great story laced with real life struggles to help you evaluate how to be a better person in your own life. A great read.

A GOOD ALTERNATIVE TO REACHER WANTABE'S
Many series market themselves as viable alternatives to Lee Child's, Jack Reacher series. While this character still does not live up to that claim either, he is a viable go-to personna that makes for a good read. The author does a good job in developing the backstop and a good gung-ho drive that keeps you riveted. I watched the movie "Gray Man" with Ryan Gosling and liked it, ignorant of the book series. I discovered the first book in the series of the same name and subsequently went back and watched the movie a 2nd time. Everything clicked and fell into place. Unlike most book-to-movie franchises, Gray Man does a good job following the basic premise of the book, much like the movie "Reacher" took to its namesake. This being the 2nd book in the Gray Man series, continues the namesake in his quest, but this time, to help clear his past with the CIA on a blown mission. Recommend watching the movie Gray Man (Netflix) first and make sure to read the first in the series of the same name afterwards. If you've read Gray Man, watch the movie following. It colors your impression of the character. Then delve into this exciting sequel.

Gray Man Book One
My first read of Greaney’s work. Sense I just read an action novel a cut above most in this genre. Definitely going to book 2.

Who Does the Gray Man Work For Now?
Ex-CIA, Assassin Court Gentry, aka, Gray Man, is the second book of the series gets involved in a Russian mafia scheme to oust the dictator of Sudan who has been responsible for the atrocities in Darfur. When we last saw the Gray Man, it appeared he was going to be working for LaurentGroup, but apparently something changed. While agreeing to this Russian's assignment, he gets ambushed by a CIA team, that would like something different. As Court a target, by the CIA and other world clandestine organizations, the CIA, has agreed to take him off their hit list, if he agrees, which involves the same dictator, but instead of assassinating him, they want Court to kidnap him for the ICC, International Criminal Court.A majority of this book takes place in Sudan. Greaney in his sophomore offer has improved and it makes for a good read, though again, repetitiveness of phrases can get old, and at times the story drags or becomes too unbelievable. But hey, its fiction. One big difference between the Gray Man, and other spy/espionage/thriller novels I've read, is that the Gray Man has a bigger "vice" that works against him at times, though this did not show up as much in the first novel.Find it different than say Mitch Rapp, Scot Harvath or Jason Bourne, but entertaining nonetheless.

Mark Greaney is a first class author....... No , that's not nearly good enough!! He is unbelievably brilliant!
The fight scenes. The politics of the region where Court finds himself are precisely described( not that I know anything about world politics). His relationship with Ellen when he spoke to her on the phone( towards the end of the book) is gentle and considerate and showed his gentle side indicate to me , through Mark's brilliant dialogue, just how

Enjoyed it.Characters are good and it trots a long at a reasonable speed.Plot is good and I enjoyed it although perhaps have had a slight overdose of the Grey Man.Would read though and works as a stand alone book. You don't need to have read the others.

Just about OK....
This is the second Mark Greaney I have read and I think he is a good author BUT he doesn't think his writing through carefully enough. All thriller/crime writers need a bit of poetic licence but his imagination runs riot. Firstly, he has an interesting character in Gentry who is supposedly a highly trained operative/sniper come hitman but he actually writes him as a fit but bumbling, stumbling fool who you would not let near a gun or ask to make a decision and as for finding a friend....! Secondly, we once again have his hero taking far too much damage in too short a space of time to achieve what he does which allied to the first item, makes him something of a cartoon character who keeps getting knocked over or blown up but dusts himself down and carries on. To me he needs to tighten the writing, reel in his imagination and smooth out his hero so he can get some longevity out of him.

Readable
I read the first one and have just finished this and they do seem to be getting better but lots missed out for the sake of poetic licence. This one sees Court throw in his lot with the Russians and then with the CIA whilst in Sudan. So much detail is great and really adds to the story but when an injury is threatening his life we never find out where he went to recuperate, how he managed to get to where he ended up but a side that shows him human will hopefully pop up in the next one which I am about to order so can't be that bad!
