Baader Planetarium IR Pass Telescope Filter 1.25" (685nm) FIRP-1

I use this IR pass filter in my Lunar imaging with my Zwo178mc camera on my C11 sct.It really brings out the detail. Note: Near infrared range, so remove any IR UV cut filter that may have come from the factory on your camera lense.

I'm giving this item 4 stars because though I'm very pleased with it, I've nothing else with which to compare. It appears very well made! I have not currently used it on my telescope but I have tested it via naked eye and over the lens of a camera. I've included a couple of photos, both taken with an iPhone - one through a car window and one through a dirty iPhone case so your actual results should be a little better. (The anomaly to the right of the sun IS lens flare. If I moved the IR Filter around a bit, the flare would move with it while the sun stayed steady. Just fyi.)

Increase contrast on the moon, was able to see the surface of Mars with an ASI290MC camera. Visually, Mars is bland due to the dust storm but images in IR are showing detail. This is a specialty item that will work mostly with photographers and not visual observers.

Definitely increases contrast on the moon. Double bonus is it's useful for IR photography of terrain if you have a lens that can handle an astro filter.

My husband loves these filters and states that they do exactly as advertised. He recommends that anyone buying them would definitely be satisfied.
