Julia Morgan (pb): Architect of Beauty

beautiful pictures, concentration is on San Francisco, Pacific Heights
This is a lovely coffee table book, somewhat large, but not by much.My reason for giving four, not five stars: The building by Julia Morgan that I am interested in researching is not included: an old (now dilapidated) mansion that we call the North Star House in Grass Valley, CA (the Foote home). It is included in another book, so I know there is some documentation on it.So, be forewarned, this book is not a definitive compilation of Julia Morgan's work, but it is packed with gorgeous, color photos of buildings and pools she designed for both private and public endeavors. There is also biographical information that I am sure anyone who has an interest in Julia Morgan would find fascinating.

My bad for a good book
Decoding Amazon's 'pb' was something I hadn't done before and I had expected a hard copy. Your paperback price was close to the San Francisco deYoung Museum's hard copy price so I thought I was into a bargain. Not a big enough deal to return, as this will be a gift for a child who will appreciate it immensely because of the quality of the content, not the hardness of the cover.

Inspiring woman
I bought the book after visiting Hearst Castle for the second time. Julia Morgan was an incredible visionary in the field of architecture. Now I want to go hunt down her other notable buildings to admire.

Another positive contribution
Another positive contribution to Morgan literature and another contribution to the history & understanding of SF Bay Area architecture, in particular, by Mark Wilson. The font size is surprisingly small at first glance but, due to leading & spacing, it reads easily on the eye. The photos are pure candy.

Beautiful publication
Great photos, interesting text and beautiful print quality, especially for a paperback. A great testament to a talented woman who was so ahead of her time.
